First of all, decide what you want to study - electronics or information technology. Based upon that, opt for the college. Electronics and communication deals with the circuits, microprocessor, microcontroller, VLSI Design etc. while information technology deals with the computer architecture, system programming, operating systems, database management and computer networks. Based on this, decide your preference and choose the college as both the institutions are good enough. Ranking wise NIT Patna takes the lead, so if you want to go according to this then take nit patna.

EWS category reservation has provided for the first time in JEE Main Entrance Exam so it would be difficult to tell you about the admission possibilities as previous year cutoff is not available but with this rank the chances seems less to get a seat in NITs.

I think that you would get a seat in NIT patna because you have got 5400 its a good rank.And as your home state is also bihar it is more easy for you to get seat in NIT patna.

The JEE Main cut off scores are declared in such a manner that a certain number of students is declared eligible to take the JEE Advanced, the second exam of the 2 tier selection process being employed currently. Currently, the total number of students that qualify for the JEE Advanced is about 2.2 lacs, including all the categories. Since this number is fixed, the cutoff varies depending on how well or otherwise the students have fared in the Main.

The declared cutoffs are only used to decide whether a student qualifies for the JEE Advanced. The cutoffs do not decide whether a student is eligible for counselling; in fact, all students are eligible for counselling Period.
