Both NITs are outstanding in every way. However, NITK offers somewhat higher placements and rankings. The only college with a beach is NIT SURATHKAL, and it has a wonderful private beach.

NITK is a Nationally Important Institution. Despite how useless the rankings are, NITK is listed as one of the best engineering schools in the nation. Real and accurate evaluations are quite difficult to come by. The quality of an institution can only be accurately evaluated by those who have firsthand knowledge. You are rank are very low as compare to previous year cutoffs , the previous year closing rank was around 7.9k for sc category for the lower most branch in NIT, rourkela. Either you can wait for the spot round selection( but chances are very less) or you can apply for some other NITs or you can give the state counseling. In state counseling you have some chances of getting a govt seat in top engineering colleges. Better you can apply for the state counseling and get into some best colleges of state with a good branch like mechanical, electrical or IT.
