The cutoff percentile of NIT Rourkela for different candidates who had applied for different branches (CSE,  IT and core branches) was 98-99 percentile. The opening and closing rank ranged within 5000 for students under category (both for home state quota and other state Quota).

The minimum percentile required for admission in NIT Rourkela ranges from 97-98 percentile. That means,  you need to have Jee mains rank under 5000 for better branches. Sorry to inform you that you will not get admission in NIT Rourkela with 45 percentile in JEE Main. According to last year cutoff if you belong from home state your rank should be under 16k which means your percentile should be above 98.5 and if you belong from other state your rank should be under 9k which means your percentile should be above 99. Final cutoff may vary, this is just an approximate percentile.

- For SC/ST/PH/Family income less than INR 1 lakh, the tuition fee is completely exempted.
- For students having family income between INR 1 lakh to INR  5 lakh per annum the Tuition fee is one third of Tuition fees i.e. Rs. 20,833

The level of questions of B. Tech in NIT Rourkela is of descriptive type. The questions generally consist of numerical based problems. Theoretical questions are less in number. The mid-semester exams are of 30 marks and the rest 70 is for Semester examinations.
