According to previous year's cut-offs you have decent chances of getting Computer Science Engineering branch in Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore under Category 1 or 2 mostly. Your VITEEE Rank is some how near to previous year's cut-off range of Computer Science Engineering in VIT, Vellore. But Cutoffs differs from year to year. The cut-off vary from year to year and depends on many factors like number of students appeared, difficulty level of the exam, number of seats available, category, etc. If you can get Computer Science Engineering in Category other than Category 1 then you have to pay additional fees along with regular Tution Fees as per the fees criteria given by VIT. If the cut-off is high this year then in that case you can get Computer Science Engineering course in VIT Vellore in Category 3.

Hi Pranav,

The counselling for rank 1-20k has started today on the official website of Vellore institute of technology. During the procedure, candidates are required to fill at least 25 choices in order of their preferences. You can choose either of the campuses, courses and category for the fee. A seat would be allocated to you on that basis.

It is a very mere possibility that you wouldn't be allowed any seats as it is the first round for the counselling and currently all seats are available to be filled. However if you are not satisfied with the course alloted , then you may take part in next round too but by filling higher categories.

According to the previous year cutoff records, you fall under category-1 and you might easily get Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology easliy. Other than this, you can try for Information Technology (IT) at VIT Vellore. You can check out the previous years cutoffs here:

Category-1 means the least fee, category 2 will include more fee payment than category-1 and so on, means as the category level increases so does the fee charges.

There are decent chances that you will fall under category-1 considering the previous years records. But you have almost no chances to get CSE or Information Technology (IT) at VIT Vellore. Dear candidate, CS in JIIT Noida, Sector 128 is not a bad option. Students are placed with good packages after graduating from this institute. If you are okay with sacrificing your college life and you live in North India then you can go with JIIT Noida, Sector 128. Sector 128 has no hostel, you have to live in hostel which is situated in Sector 62. VIT Vellore is very far for North Indians. Talking about VIT Vellore, it has its own reputation in market and offers good placement in CSE.

No, there is no segregation in placements and opportunities as category fees decreases or increases.

Firstly congratulations on scoring such decent rank.
I would like to inform you that the closing rank of VIT Vellore for ECE branch was 14,500 , it means that you have very high chances of getting ECE branch in 2nd category at Vellore campus.
Meanwhile the closing rank for ECE at Chennai campus was 25,000 . It clearly means that you will surely get ECE branch at Chennai in the 1st category.
Also, not to forget the cut offs are subjected to change a bit every year.
