Dear candidate, according to me you should wait for JEE Mains. It may happen that with your JEE score you may be getting colleges better than VIT. Nothing is impossible. Why not to wait and give it a try? VIT allows admission of students after mains also. I got mails from VIT after I started my college in 2019. So, wait till JEE mains result then decide what to do.

With the rank you have mentioned, unfortunately it seems like you may not get Mechanical Engineering and its sub-branch in the central campus of VIT.

But you have some chances to get Production Engineering which is very similar to Mechanical engineering. In the recent previous year the cutoff for Production Engineering in the same college was around 53,000.

Please note that cutoff varies every year as it depends on various factor like difficulty level of exam, total number of seats, number of students appeared in examination and so on.

You can also try for other campus of VIT, and there you have very fair chance that you can get Mechanical branch.

computer science engineering is one of the most demanding stream right now, for vit vellore competition is real high. based on previous years closing rank analysis you have tough chances for cse in vit vellore at this rank. however you have moderate chances for Computer science and Engg. (Specialisation in Bioinformatics).

For your VITEEE Rank it is difficult for you to get B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering branch in Vellore Institute of Technology in any campus mainly in VIT Vellore Campus and VIT Chennai Campus based on previous year's cut-offs in Category 1 to 3. But in VIT Bhopal and BIT Andhra Pradesh you can try for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering in Category 4 or 5 but chances are less. But cut-offs varies from year to year and depends on many factors.

You can try for Category 4 or 5 but chances are less because competition will be more for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering branch. You might try for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering seat any of the VIT Campuses in Category 5 then you have to pay additional 2.5 Lakhs every year apart from Tution Fees which is approximately Rs. 1.98 Lakhs per annum.

Yes, with a Rank of 38k in VITEEE, you definitely have fair chances of securing a seat in either Category 1 ot 2. In Category 1, I believe you have somewhat moderate to good chances of securing Mechanical  Chemical, Civil, Biotechnology and other branches towards the lower end. While in Category 2, I believe you might just have low chances to secure ECE, moderate to good chances for Electrical and surely get Mechanical.

So let me tell you that you do have good chances to get cse in vit ap . At a worst case scenario you will get at category 2.

But the thing is these things depends upon certain factors like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats and also previous year cut offs.

Rank 3500 is a very good score in VITEEE and yes you fall under category 1  .You have very high chance of getting Computer Science Engineering in VIT Vellore campus as your rank falls under last year's cutoff range for CSE.
