Greetings of the day dear aspirant

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on successful completion of your VITEEE exam. The cut-off trends keeps changing every year and it depends on the number of students attempting the exam, difficulty level, number of available seats, etc. When it comes to CSE branch, it's very hard to get it as it has huge demand these days. With a rank near to 10,000, you cannot get CSE seat in Vellore campus as the cut-off for the same was 7,000 in the year 2016. Whereas, you can easily secure an ECE , IT or any other seat in Vellore campus. If you want a CSE seat only, then you can get it easily in their Chennai campus in 1st fee category itself.

Hi Aspirant,

Based on previous year's cut-offs you have decent chances of getting Computer Science Engineering branch in Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore under Category 1 or 2 mostly. Your VITEEE Rank is some how near to previous year's cut-off range of Computer Science Engineering in VIT, Vellore.

But Cutoffs differs from year to year. The cut-off vary from year to year and depends on many factors like number of students appeared, difficulty level of the exam, number of seats available, category, etc.

If you can get Computer Science Engineering in Category other than Category 1 then you have to pay additional fees along with regular Tution Fees as per the fees criteria given by VIT. If the cut-off is high this year then in that case you can get Computer Science Engineering course in VIT Vellore in Category 3.

You can go through below given link for more information about VITEEE cut-offs.

Hope this helps.

Thank you!!

Dear aspirant,

As you have mentioned that you have got 5.8k rank in viteee 2021 and you are wanting to take up cse branch in category 1. So, let me tell you that you would easily get computer science or any specialization in category 1 . But yes data science specialisation is a bit difficult to get in category 1 as it gets closed upto 5k.

But be rest assured that you will get computer science in category 1.

Greetings of the day Karthik

At first, I would like to congratulate you on successful completion of your VITEEE exam. The cut-off trends keeps changing every year and it depends on the number of students attempting the exam, difficulty level, number of available seats, etc. With a rank near to 80,000, you cannot get Mechanical seat in Vellore and Chennai campuses as the cut-off for Vellore campus was 19,500 in the year 2016. Whereas, you can easily secure a Mechanical seat in Amravati and Bhopal campuses in 1st fee category itself as these campuses are recently established. You can also check out CSE as these campuses provide future ready specialisations.

VIT AP and VIT Bhopal offer many specialisations in CSE branch such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber security and Digital forensics, Gaming Technology, Health Informatics, Networking and Security, Data Analytics, Robotics, Business Systems. These courses are future ready and have high placement opportunities. You can opt for the one you like from these specialisations.

Hope I've cleared your doubts!

When you are pursuing a Specialization you get specialized for a portion of the subject. This means that you will know more about Specialization subject more than non specialized students.

Now the good or bad is relative. If you feel interested in Data Science then go for it else go for CSE because if you aren't sure about specialization its better to get some time and  then decide what to do next.

If you think of it CSE data science can be more advantageous as you will get scope in CSE and Data Science sectors. This will increase your demand in industry. But that doesn't mean being only a CSE you won't get these opportunities. But for only CSE if you go for Data Science then you will get relatively low package as the company have to train more about Data Science.

I would recommend you only to take specialization if you like it, else you will get wasted while studying.
