This is very  difficult to make prediction regarding which branches you can get because  cut off /closing rank   keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like

• number of students that appeared in the VITEEE exam

• toughness or difficulty level of the VITEEE examination .
• number of available  seats for different branches etc.

But yes,

When we go through previous year trend then,

With your  43k rank , you have chances of getting into VIT vellore but in lower  branches which are listed below along with their past year cut off ( 2016)

• BioMedical Engineering:- 45000

• Production and Industrial Engg:- 50,000.

As far as CSE is concerned VIT Bhopal has good Placements. More than 80% students were placed last season with a median pay between 5-6 LPA. Most of the Top IT Recruiters like Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, Accenture, MediaTek, Capgemini visited the campus resulting in Mass Recruitments, with Wipro selecting 278 Students at a Package of 6.5 LPA.

VIT Bhopal has good infrastructure, faculty as well as a strong curriculum providing effective technical education at par with Campuses at Chennai and Vellore Main Campus.

With 37025 in VITEEE, you have extremely low chances of securing Electronics till Category 2 of Counselling. You have somewhat fair chances of securing Mechanical or Electrical or maybe ECE in lower Categories of Counselling ( Category 3 Onwards) , resulting in a mich higher Fee Structure and tuition costs.

With 16227 Rank in VITEEE, I believe you have fair chances in securing Mechanical or Mechatronics in VIT Vellore, preferably under Category 1 of Counselling. If not Category 1, I believe you surely have chances for ECE, Electrical or Mechanical under Category 2 and must keep your fingers crossed.

VIT is one of the Top Private Universities having excellent faculty, infrastructure and placements prospects, besides having a strong currciulum providing effective technical education.

Though NIRF Rankings suggest VIT as the better University between Manipal and itself, my views differ. Placements and Infrastructure arent only the means for distinguishing between campuses, most of the Top Private Universities today have good Placement prospects and strong infrastructure. What matters for 4 years survival is a well knit campus culture and competitive environment.

Having myself been an Engineering Aspirant in past, with friends at both places, I believe MIT Manipal is a much better place to be than VIT, considering the smaller batches, better student-faculty interactions, better research facilities, as well as strong alumini & employer outlook.

CSE for instance has 800+ students at VIT Vellore, across CSE and Specialization Courses, whereas the number is just 250 at MIT Manipal. Secondly, MIT Manipal has significantly better placements for Non CSE/IT/ECE Branches, when compared to Non CSE/IT Branches at VIT Vellore. Certain Companies like Tata Motors, visit MIT Manipal for Placements from Mech/Elec/Production Branches, but not other Private Universities like MIT Manipal or SRMIST.

You ideal preference order during Admissions & Counselling Time must be,

1. CSE MIT Manipal

2. CSE/IT VIT Vellore

3. Choose the Next Best Branch Available after CSE at MIT Manipal, if you dont get the Above 2 Options.

I would like to tell you that both the university have a very great academic excellence as well as placement records are quiet impressive now comparing both the university is not that easy because you will find that they stand almost at the same position and among them also the best VIT is “VIT vellore” and for AMRITA it is “Amrita coimbatore” so they have the best records compare to their other campus. So now it completely depends upon your desire and interest in which you are more willing to go and ya both are just great in records.

Yes, your son has good chances of getting Computer Science Engineering seat in Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore for your VITEEE 2021 Rank because your son's rank falls in the previous year's cut-off range of Computer Science Engineering in VIT, Vellore.

The cutoffs varies from year to year and branch to branch and campus to campus. The cut-offs depends on many factors like number of students appeared in the exam, difficulty level of the exam, number of seats available, category, branches etc.

VIT Vellore is the best and first campus of VIT University, followed by VIT Chennai. Though both the Campuses has similar curriculum, infrastructure, VIT Vellore enjoys a stronger employer outlook, campus culture, competition and placement prospects. Although VIT Chennai is not behind, and enjoys certain an excellent locational advantage being located near IT, Technical and Corporate Hubs of Chennai as well as Research Destinations like IIT Madras, CMI and IITM Research Park.

As far as Placements of VIT Chennai are concerned,they are conducted alongwith VIT Vellore. Theyre at par with VIT Vellore for Top Branches like CSE, IT and ECE, with more than 90% students getting placed with a median pay between 5-7 LPA. However, for other branches, the situation is bleak with around 50-60% Placements, with a median pay between 2-4 LPA, mostly by IT, Software, Marketing and Few Core Firms.

In 2019, my very close friend had secured around 10k Rank in VITEEE, and secured CSE at Vellore in Category 2 of Counselling. At 16.8k, I dont believe youll get CSE or any CSE Specialization till Category 2, or maybe low chances of securing CSE/CSE (Spez) at Category 3. I would advise you to opt for IT/ECE/EEE  which are equally good at VIT upto the Category 2 of Counselling, and I believe youll be able to make into one of them. Another option could be trying for CS/IT/ECE at Chennai Campus, under Category 1 or 2, but dont really compromise on Branch below ECE/EEE. VIT has strong placements, faculty and employer outlook for the Top 3-4 Branches, but not for others.
