With a VITEEE rank of 122,161, securing a seat at VIT Vellore for competitive branches like Computer Science Engineering (CSE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is highly unlikely, as the cutoffs for these branches are generally much lower.
However, you may have a chance at securing admission to branches with higher cutoff ranks, especially in VIT Bhopal or VIT-AP campuses. Some of the branches you might still be able to apply for include:
1. Mechanical Engineering
2. Civil Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering
4. Biotechnology
5. Environmental Engineering

Yes, being a general category student with VITEEE rank 93,000, you stand a decent chance of getting Biotechnology at VIT, particularly in Bhopal and AP campuses. Admission in Chennai is likely, while Vellore is less likely as its cutoff is typically below 70,000 for this course.
You will be most likely to fall in fee Category 2 or 3, where a higher fee is charged than Category 1.
It's best to be present in all rounds of counseling and remain open to options across campuses.
VIT (Rank: 1,25,900):
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 5,800 , securing admission to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at VIT Vellore is unlikely , especially in the lower fee categories. Historically, the cutoff for CSE at VIT Vellore has been around 3,500 for Category 2 and approximately 19,000 for Category 3. (https://mdmsenquiry.com/viteee-cutoff/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) Given your rank, you might be considered for Category 3 or higher , but competition remains intense, and seats fill quickly.
However, you have better prospects at other VIT campuses:
VIT Chennai : CSE admissions have closed around 8,000 in previous years.
VIT Bhopal and VIT-AP : These campuses have higher closing ranks for CSE, often extending beyond 15,000 , increasing your chances of admission. https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/viteee-cutoff
Recommendations:
Participate in VIT's counseling process : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/viteee-cutoff Ensure you register and attend the counseling sessions, as seat allotments are based on rank and preferences.
Prioritize campuses : List VIT Chennai as a top preference, followed by VIT Bhopal and VIT-AP , to maximize your chances for CSE.
Be open to other branches : If CSE isn't available, consider related branches like Information Technology (IT) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) , which also offer robust career opportunities.
Stay updated : Regularly check the official VIT website and your registered email for counseling updates and seat allotment results.
Hello Rachit,
Yes, you can get admission in VIT with 55% in PCM if you have cleared the VITEEE exam. However, VIT generally requires at least
60% in PCM
(50% for SC/ST and certain reserved categories) for B.Tech admissions. Since you belong to the OBC category, it’s better to contact VIT admissions directly to confirm if any relaxation applies.

Hello,
SRMJEE Rank: 15,190 and VITEEE Rank: 1,25,900
You wish to study Computer Science Engineering. Here are your choices:
SRM University (Rank: 15,190):
You have a fair chance of securing CSE (core) at SRM Ramapuram, SRM Vadapalani, or SRM NCR (Delhi) campus.
You may also get CSE specializations like AI/ML or Data Science at SRM Main Campus (Kattankulathur) under Fee Category 2 or 3.
Fees:
Fee Category 1: Rs 2.5L/year
Fee Category 2 or 3: Rs 3 to 3.5L/year
VIT (Rank: 1,25,900):
You are eligible for Bhopal or AP campus but not for Vellore or Chennai campus for CSE.
You can anticipate CSE core or its specializations at VIT-AP or VIT-Bhopal under Category 1 or 2 fees, possibly.
Fees:
Around Rs 1.76L to Rs 2.95L per year based on category and campus
Comparison Summary:
SRM provides older, settled campuses such as Ramapuram and NCR with good placements (average Rs 4–5 LPA).
VIT Bhopal and AP campuses are fresher but carry stronger brand power, higher-quality infrastructure, and marginally superior average placements (Rs 5–6 LPA) of late.
Verdict:
Go with SRM if you like the setup at an already established location.
Go with VIT (Bhopal/AP) if better branding appeals and you're comfortable with fresh campuses.
Hello,
with a 74,000 rank in VITEEE, getting CSE at VIT-AP in category 1 is unlikely, but category 2 is possible depending on seat availability. CSE is highly competitive, but VIT-AP generally has lower cutoffs than Vellore or Chennai campuses.keep backup options and consider related branches like CSE with specializations.
Hey there! Congrats on your VITEEE rank! With a rank of 32,000, it might be a bit challenging to snag a seat in some of the more popular courses at VIT Vellore, like Computer Science or Electronics, but don’t lose hope! You could still explore options like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or even some of the newer programs that might have more availability. Just keep an eye on the counseling process and be ready to grab any opportunity that comes your way! Good luck!
