Gaighata Government Polytechnic,  is a technical institute located in Gaighata, West Bengal. The institute offers diploma programs in engineering disciplines and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

The admission process at Gaighata Government Polytechnic is molded to be hassle-free for students. The institute runs three full-time diploma courses of three-year duration each: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The total intake capacity of the institute is 180 students (60 for each program).

Degree-wise Admission Process

• Diploma in Civil Engineering: It is the program for which 60 seats are allocated for aspiring civil engineers. The course implies strong fundamentals for various segments of civil engineering such as structural design, construction management, and surveying. Admission to this course is based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination and also on the score obtained in the relevant entrance test.

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering: There are a total of 60 seats for this program covering electrical systems, power generation, distribution, and control. It includes academic qualifications in physics and mathematics as one of the criteria for those students who qualified in the qualifying examination or entrance test.

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This program grants equally 60 seats for students wishing to pursue learning about mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and product design. Admission will be entirely on merit based on the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examination, with the weightage on physics and mathematics.
