B.Tech Information Technology - Batch of 2028-01-01
Academics
The faculty in our department are knowledgeable, accessible, and stick strictly to the Anna University syllabus. The teaching methodology leans heavily toward covering the syllabus thoroughly and preparing students for semester exams.
While core concepts are taught well, staying updated with modern industry tech stacks (like modern web frameworks or advanced cloud concepts) requires self-study. Teachers encourage taking up NPTEL courses, certifications, and participating in hackathons to bridge the gap between textbook theory and real-world software development.
College Infra
The infrastructure is actually one of the strongest points of Sairam. Classrooms are spacious and well-lit, and the department labs (especially for IT and CS) are equipped with working computers and decent internet connectivity. The Central Library is huge and stocked with all necessary textbooks, reference materials, and IEEE journals.
The campus is kept very clean and well-maintained. While the canteen food is decent and hygienic, options can feel a bit repetitive after a point. Sports facilities like the basketball court and ground are available, though academic routines don't always leave a ton of free time to use them.
Campus Life
Campus life is very disciplined and structured compared to many other colleges. Attendance rules and dress code regulations are followed quite strictly.
However, things get exciting during cultural events, department symposiums, and national-level hackathons. The peer group in IT and CS is competitive, which keeps you motivated to focus on coding, projects, and career preparation throughout your degree
Placements
Placements are quite active and a primary focus for the management. Mass recruiters (like TCS, Cognizant, and Wipro) hire a large number of students every year. A decent number of product-based companies and mid-sized IT firms also visit with higher package offers.
The college placement cell provides aptitude training, coding sessions, and mock interviews starting from the 3rd year. If you maintain a strong CGPA without active backlogs and build good practical projects on your own, you stand a solid chance of getting placed in a good company.
Value For Money
Considering the overall facilities, placement opportunities, discipline, and training provided, the fee structure feels reasonable for a top-tier affiliated college in Chennai. The return on investment is solid, especially if you secure a decent placement offer through campus drives.
