The much-revered institution in India, Govt. Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, offers dental sciences courses which are affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The college offers various programmes such as BDS, MDS, and diploma courses. The admission process at Government Dental College has a stringent procedure to hone only the best into the dental courses. For undergraduate admission, it gets admission scores resulting from the National Eligibility Combined Entrance Test (NEET). Normally, NEET is taken in May of each academic year, and results are released by the middle of June. Academic years usually kick off in August to September once the results are out.

For Govt Dental College and Hospital, BDS minimum eligibility: students must meet the standard for grades in 10th and 12th where mandatory subjects are physics, chemistry, and biology; be of the minimum age; and have scored above the cutoff in the NEET examination. For postgraduate (MDS) admissions, candidates must have obtained their BDS degree from an approved institution and have qualified in the NEET-MDS entrance examination. This principle of merit-based Govt. Dental College and Hospital admission is also applied to state and all-India candidates separately.
