      Government Engineering College, Barmer Admission Process

      Government Engineering College, Barmer (GEC Barmer) is the latest educational citizen in the family of institutions under the BARC Scheme. It is intended to cater to the demand for quality technical education in the state of Rajasthan. Government Engineering College admission process is based on merit, for this college includes admission into a variety of engineering programmes. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recognised Government Engineering College, which offers seven B.Tech programmes through the regular mode.

      Government Engineering College admission process is two-fold: by merit in the JEE Main or by merit in the 12th standard. For B.Tech programmes, Government Engineering College Admission Process (REAP) is used for admissions, along with other participating institutions in the state.

      Though based on the results of JEE Main conducted at a national level through the National Testing Agency (NTA), candidates must appear for the JEE Main examination, which is generally held in January and April each year. They are expected to register for the exam via the official JEE Main website and follow the application process as per the NTA guidelines.

      Government Engineering College Application Process

      The steps to apply for admission into GEC Barmer are as follows:

      JEE Main Route:

      • Register and appear for the JEE Main examination conducted by NTA.
      • Visit the official REAP website when the application process begins.
      • Fill in the online application form for REAP admission.
      • Attach and upload the necessary documents, including the JEE Main scorecard and 10th and 12th mark sheets, along with other relevant certificates.
      • Pay the application fee as mentioned on the REAP portal.
      • Submit the completed application form.

      12th Merit Route:

      • Visit the official REAP website at the time of application.
      • Fill in the online application form for REAP admission.
      • Upload the required documents, including mark sheets for the 10th and 12th standards and other relevant certificates.
      • Pay the application fee as per the REAP portal. 
      • Submit the application form.

      Government Engineering College B.Tech Admission Process

      All B.Tech programmes at GEC Barmer follow a centralised admission system through REAP, and admission is based on merit, either through JEE Main or 12th standard performance.

      GEC Barmer offers seven B.Tech programmes with a cumulative intake of 300 seats. These programmes include:

      Candidates seeking admission to any of these programmes must apply online through the REAP portal and meet the eligibility criteria stated above. Government Engineering College admission to all programmes is strictly based on merit and availability of seats.

      Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Programme at GEC Barmer:

      • 10+2 examination with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following: chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or a technical vocational subject.
      • Applicants must secure at least 45% marks (40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/MBC-NCL categories) in the above-mentioned subjects taken together.
