Government Polytechnic Kinnaur is an AICTE-approved technical institution, affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University. The institute offers diploma courses in engineering disciplines focused on providing quality technical education to meet market needs.

Government Polytechnic Kinnaur admission process is primarily based on the Himachal Pradesh Polytechnic Admission Test (HP PAT), also popularly referred to as the Polytechnic Entrance Test (PET) being conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical Service Board (HPTSB) at Dharamshala. • Diploma in Civil Engineering: This is a 3-year full-time diploma programme. Government Polytechnic Kinnaur admission is based on the Polytechnic Entrance Test (PET). Candidates must appear for the PAT (Polytechnic Admission Test). The approved intake is 60 students.

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This is a 3-year full-time diploma programme. Government Polytechnic Kinnaur admission is through PAT conducted by HPTSB-Dharamshala. The approved intake is 60 students.
