Government Polytechnic, Kinnaur Admission Process
Government Polytechnic, Kinnaur is an AICTE-approved technical institution, affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University. The institute offers diploma courses in engineering disciplines focused on providing quality technical education to meet market needs.
The admission process of Government Polytechnic, Kinnaur is primarily based on the Himachal Pradesh Polytechnic Admission Test (HP PAT), also popularly referred to as the Polytechnic Entrance Test (PET) being conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical Service Board (HPTSB) at Dharamshala. The entrance test forms the major component of the selection process for eligible candidates in the admission into the diploma programs offered by the institute.

The basic eligibility criteria for the diploma programs for admission into Government Polytechnic at Kinnaur requires clearing the 10+2. Application Process

Appear for the HP PAT on the scheduled date (May 17, 2025 for the upcoming cycle).
Wait for the results to be announced.
If qualified, participate in the counselling process.
During counselling, choose Government Polytechnic, Kinnaur and your preferred course (Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) based on your rank and seat availability.
If allotted a seat, report to the college for document verification and admission formalities.
Candidates are advised to keep all necessary documents ready before the counselling process begins. Admission is competitive and selection is based on the merit list prepared from the HP PAT scores.
Degree-wise Admission Process
Diploma in Civil Engineering: This is a 3-year full-time diploma program. Admission is based on the Polytechnic Entrance Test (PET). Candidates must appear for the PAT (Polytechnic Admission Test). The approved intake is 60 students.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This is a 3-year full-time diploma program. Admission is through PAT conducted by HPTSB-Dharamshala. The approved intake is 60 students.
Both diploma programs equip students with foundational knowledge and practical skills for technical careers or further studies in engineering.
