Jawaharlal Nehru School of Management Studies, Assam University, Silchar has a placement cell that conducts a smooth placement drive for the students. All the placement related activities such as organising various training programmes, maintaining the database of students, organising campus interviews, career guidance to the students, job fair, resume preparation, etc are taken care of by the placement cell of the college. Placement cell builds relationships with the reputed companies/organisations and acts as a link between the recruiters and the students. It also conducts group discussions, mock interviews, and guest lectures to prepare the students for the placement. It also conducts seminars and workshops for the overall personality development of the students. The cell ensures that the maximum number of students get placed in the companies. JNSMS-AU placement process includes registration for participating in the drive, shortlisting the candidates meeting pre-hiring demands stated by the companies, pre-placement talk which is a two-way communication where students get an insight about the company and can interact with the employers, written tests in order to judge the verbal ability, logical, aptitude, reasoning and technical knowledge. Further candidates who qualify the written test move to the next round that is the Group Discussion where they share their view and opinions collectively and voice their thoughts. Personal Interview is the final round and candidates qualifying the interview are offered jobs and hence fulfilling their dream of getting a job in the company they aspired for. The details of JNSMS-AU placement process is given below:

• Invitation to the companies - The training and placement cell invites the companies by sending an e-mail for conducting JNSMS-AU placements.
• Acceptance of invitation - Once the company wishes to conduct the placement drive, it will accept the invitation and revert back to the Placement Cell.
• Fixing of  Dates - Upon mutual agreement, dates are fixed for conducting campus recruitment by the company and the Placement Cell of the college and a complete schedule is made and it is shared with the students.
• Registration for placement and submission of CVs - Candidates interested for participation in the placement drive are invited to register for participating in the recruitment drive and then submit their updated resume that will be used during the recruitment process.
• Fixing of Schedule - A schedule will be made with the mutual consent of the recruiters and the placement cell and dates will be finalised for the campus recruitment.
• Shortlisting of enlisted candidates - Based on the specific academic requirements as demanded by the recruiters which are known as pre-hiring demands such as minimum percentage, etc, candidates are shortlisted.
• Pre Placement Talk - If the companies want, they can deliver a pre-placement talk for the students in order to make them aware of the basic policies, key aspects of the company, work environment and give an insight into the company.
• Conduction of Tests - After the pre-placement talk in order to judge the Quantitative aptitude, Logical ability, English competency, Domain knowledge and Suitability towards specific skill-sets of the potential students of JNSMS-AU, these tests are taken and students qualifying the test makes a move to the next stage of the recruitment drive.
• Interview - Further, the candidates have to qualify the interview taken by the companies. Interviews namely Technical Interview, HR Interview, etc are some of the interviews taken. These interviews may or may not have several rounds.
• Final Placement -  The students who qualify the written tests and interviews conducted by the companies will get the final offer letter to join the company.
