Kalimpong College, Darjeeling Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College has a fully equipped library with all the necessary books for all courses. The College Library was founded in the year 1962 with the establishment of Kalimpong College within the college building. The new separate building was completed in the year 2015 on the auspicious occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of the college. The foundation stone of the new Golden Jubilee Library Building was laid on 13.03.2012 by Shri Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, and inaugurated on 26.06.2015 by Dr. T.B. Subba, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Central University.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure for the students. The College has two computer laboratories - one for teachers with three computers and the other for BBA students with 10 computers. Both the rooms are connected with internet facility.

The college has a good network for the alumni association.

There are 6 laboratories in block B, which are used for conducting practicals, project works, and theory classes. The Botany department maintains a herbarium of local flora, and locally available botanical specimens are also kept in the laboratory. The number of rooms occupied by each practical-oriented subject is Botany (3); Zoology (2); Geography (2); Physics (1); Chemistry (4); and Mathematics (2). All the laboratory rooms are equipped with LCD projectors, whiteboards, white screens, and internet connectivity.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. A small Hall with a capacity of approximately 300 students is used for conducting seminars, workshops and all cultural and other programmes. This multipurpose Hall is also used as a classroom. Some of the bigger events are conducted in the Town Hall on hire. A conference room at block C has been constructed and soon it will be ready for use. A new auditorium with larger capacity is under construction in Block B. 

The College encourages students to participate in all kinds of games and sports (both outdoor and indoor) in every possible way. The College holds an excellent record in the field of games and sports, and the students of this College have performed and attained outstanding feats at the state, national, and International levels as well. Every year, the College sends the Football team, Volleyball team, and athletics players to participate in the inter-college tournaments held by the University of North Bengal, and the College holds a very good record as well. Besides these sports, the College selects players from the College after the selection trial and sends them to university-level participation in the field of Badminton, Table-Tennis, etc. Apart from these, different types of sports events, including Carrom and Ches,s are held throughout the year both inside and outside the College for both the staff as well as the students.

The college has a Smart classroom facility for the students. The College has one smart room with a smart board, projector, computer and sitting arrangement for 50 students. Presently it is dedicated to Satyendranath Coaching Centre.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college has a Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff. The entire campus is connected with wi-fi. There are enough desktops and laptops at the institute for both employees and students. In the classrooms during each teaching block, the computers are accessible to both students and teachers. The administrative block has computers and printers for use. In the classrooms, lecture rooms, and labs, projectors are available.

The College has provided a Training and Placement cell to the students.

The college has 36 spacious classrooms with proper lighting and audio facilities. Rooms are airy and properly ventilated. We have 07 large sized classrooms (Rooms 17, 26, 30, 31, 32, 33) and a Hall. They are also used for conducting examinations also. These rooms are also used by the commerce section in the morning shift.

College car parking can accommodate a good number of two-wheelers as well as four-wheelers. Mostly, students’ vehicles are parked in this parking area.
