Hello aspirant,
Both the branches are important at their own place. It depends solely on your choice whether you would ho for marine engineering or mechanical engineering.

It can be said that it totally depends on how you want to shape your future.
According to present scenario, for Jon opportunities mechanical is a better branch. It gives you vast opportunities like job, you can also prepare for UPSC, banking exam, PSU's or rather do M. Tech afterwards .

But if you are sure that you are interested in Merchant navy then go for marine engineering only. It's fees is comparatively greater than mechanical engineering.
But the salaries are also higher.
I would suggest to try in IIT's and NIT's for better opportunities. This would help you further to decide :

Hi Manjunath,

The MVGR college of engineering in Andhra Pradesh is an autonomous college , which usually selects students based on the counselling done by Andhra Pradesh state government usually known by the name,EAMCET.The eligibility criteria required for the candidates are just that the 12th standard pass percentage should be 50% or above for the aggregate subjects, and you should have appeard for the EAMCET counselling.

So, concluding your mains mark wont be of much use in getting admitted to this college but following the above steps you will be able to enroll in the college very easily, but still you can contact the college management to enquire if the JEE mains mark will help you to acquire a seat via management quota. The number to contact the college management is given below.
