Narayanaguru College of Engineering, Kanyakumari Admission Process

Narayanaguru College of Engineering (NGCE), Kanyakumari, is among the affiliated institutions duly recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is a merit-based entry system following the Anna University (affiliating University) ordinances. Admission opportunities are widely available with a large number of programs in engineering and management that range from undergraduate to postgraduate.

The admission process at NGCE starts generally in the first half of the academic year after the conduct of standardized entrance exams for admission to undergraduate engineering programs based on the state-level entrance examinations mainly. For postgraduate admission, among the factors that are taken into account are the GATE eligibility exam and some other entrance examinations, such as the CEETA-PG and TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test).

For undergraduate programs, candidates must have passed 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board. On the other hand, for master's candidates, they need to have a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.

Application Process

  1. The first step to apply is to go to the NGCE official online application form.

  2. Select the desired programs and fill the application with correct personal and academic details.

  3. The documents to upload would generally include:

    • A passport-size photograph

    • Copy of 10th and 12th mark sheets

    • Degrees certificate (in case of postgraduate applicants)

    • Score cards of the entrance examinations (JEE/GATE/TANCET as applicable)

    • Community certificate (if applicable)

  4. The application fee must be paid online by way of the mentioned payment option.

  5. The duly filled application form may be submitted, and a hard copy should be kept for future reference.

  6. For admission into undergraduate programs in engineering, the counseling at state level will be conducted at NGCE among those who are shortlisted by the entrance examination score.

  7. For admission to postgraduate programs, any shortlisted candidates may additionally have to appear for tests/interviews at NGCE.

  8. If admitted, the admission process will need to be completed by the payment of the requisite fee and the submission of original documents for verification.

  9. Shortlisted candidates must follow approaches regarding the status of application, important dates, and procedures with updates.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.E. Programs:
NGCE offers six B.E. programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. These programs are offered admission based on the merit of the state-level engineering entrance examination. The B.E. program in Computer Science and Engineering has the maximum intake of 120 seats.

B.Tech Program:
The college offers a B.Tech program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for an intake of 60 students. This would follow similar admission procedures as the B.E. Programs.

M.E. Program:
NGCE offers for an M.E. specializations in Applied Electronics, Computer Science & Engineering, VLSI Design, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, and Manufacturing Engineering. Admission procedures for these programs consider the GATE scores and might include additional tests or interviews. Each of the M.E. programs has an intake capacity that ranges from 8 to 16.

MBA Program:
The intake for the MBA program at NGCE is 90 students. The admissions are based on the TANCET scores, following which a selection process has to be undertaken. This may include group discussions and personal interviews.

MCA Program:
The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program has an intake of 30 students. The admission process would be the same as for other postgraduate programs, relying on the scores of the corresponding entrance exams.
