Orissa Engineering College, Jatni Admission Process

Orissa Engineering College (OEC), Jatni, is a prestigious engineering institution located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The college is affiliated with Biju Patnaik University of Technology and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). OEC's admission process is designed to select capable and motivated students for its engineering programmes.

The primary mode of Orissa Engineering College admission is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), a national-level engineering entrance test. This ensures that students admitted to the college have a strong foundation in the basic subjects required for engineering studies. Additionally, the college also accepts the XE Engineering Mathematics examination as an alternative entry requirement for aspiring engineering students.

Orissa Engineering College offers five B.Tech programmes, each with an intake capacity of 120 students, resulting in a total of 600 seats across all courses. To be eligible for admission to OEC's B.Tech programmes, candidates must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects from a recognised board. The specific eligibility criteria, including minimum percentage requirements, may vary and should be confirmed from the official college website or admission brochure for the current academic year.

      Orissa Engineering College Application Process

The application process for Orissa Engineering College typically follows these steps:

      • Qualify in the JEE Main examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
      • Register for the state-level counseling process (as OEC is a private college in Odisha, it may participate in the state's centralised admission process).
      • Fill out the application form for OEC, which is usually available on the college's official website.
      • Submit the completed application form along with the required documents.
      • Pay the Orissa Engineering College application fee as specified by the college.
      • Attend counseling sessions if shortlisted, where seat allotment is done based on JEE Main rank and availability.
      • If allotted a seat, report to the college for document verification and admission confirmation.
      • Pay the required admission fees to secure the seat.

Orissa Engineering College B.Tech Admission Process

Orissa Engineering College offers five B.Tech programmes, each with an intake of 120 students. The Orissa Engineering College admission process for all B.Tech programmes is primarily based on JEE Main scores. The available programmes are:

      • B.Tech in Civil Engineering
      • B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering
      • B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
      • B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
      • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Candidates seeking admission to these programmes must qualify in the JEE Main examination. The college may also consider the XE Engineering Mathematics examination scores for some candidates. Eligibility criteria include completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.

      Orissa Engineering College Documents Required

      • 10th and 12th mark sheets

      Academics

The faculties of the college are really good and experienced in their fields. However the classes need to be conducted with more regularity and sincerity. The syllabus could use some up gradation to be more in line with the industry demands.

      College Infra

The college infrastructure is overall good, it does lack some maintenance. There are all the necessary laboratories and they are well equipped. The hostels are in good condition and the mess food is also good and hygienic.

      Campus Life

You will experience an outstanding college life here. A multitude of events are organised round the year for the students to display and polish their talents. There is a club for almost every field of interest like photography club and a lot of technical clubs too. The best part about the college life is the annual techno management fest, where you are sure to have a great time. The faculties and the seniors are also really very helpful and friendly.

      Placements

The college provides pretty average placements and it needs to work to give students better placement to students with good packages. For my batch, that is the batch of 2017, the highest package of the college was around 10LPA. The common recruiters of the college are companies like Wipro, TCS etc.

      Value For Money

The yearly fee of the college was around 93,000 for my batch. It has definitely increased a bit since then. However, if you compare the semester fee of the college to other private colleges you can safely conclude that it is not very expensive and hence the college does provide good value for money.

      Campus Life

Worst college.Lack of facilities that a student need.

      Academics

The quality of teaching here is very bad. There are only very few qualified and well experienced teachers. There is lack of proper platform for learning and experiences.mist of the teachers are not well qualified and they fail to give proper knowledge in their respective subjects. The college curriculum is often updated very lately and does not include recent developments in respective fields.I donor think so that the study here makes any one job - ready.

      College Infra

The infrastructure of this college is not so good. There is no platform for any extracurricular activities. The classrooms here are also not so good. There is only one library which is quite small and it opens very rarely and occasionally. There is no smart board here and the WiFi here is very slow which is of no use.Living spaces are rarely cleaned and the food here is not so tasty and hygienic. The facilities here is also very bad.No classrooms and laboratories are well maintained.

      Campus Life

Campus life is also not so good .The college campus is not worth it.There is no activity that a student can do or engage in.The students here are little bit supportive and the teachers though not so experienced may help us.But the location is not safe as it is situated in a isolated area full of dense trees .It cannot handle emergencies because it's location is very bad.

      Placements

The placements here few years back was very good. But in present the placement has fallen down in our college. There is no on-campus placement.Everything has become off campus only. There was only about 30 percent students placed this year which is very very low.The highest salary offered was 5 Lacs per annum.

      Value For Money

Worst college ever.Lack of proper learning platform and experience.our college takes 99 thousand annually for academics which is quite high. But we are not getting our money's worth as there is nothing here to be satisfied upon.Neither proper classes nor proper teachers.Neither facilities nor any extracurricular activities.most importantly it doesn't have enough teachers for proper education and knowledge which makes it count as worst college.
