Located in Indore, the School of Data Science and Forecasting, at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, has been set up for the purpose of training talent in the area of data science and analytics. Recognising the great demand for these professionals in the digital age, the school has put in place advanced programmes to fill the gaps in the current human resource pool. The organisation is on the Takshashila Campus and has been brainchilded for imparting quality education in data science and forecasting. The School of Data Science and Forecasting admission procedure seeks candidates equipped with mathematical aptitude, which is a prerequisite for careers in various data-centric domains. Therefore, the school attaches great importance to the GATE ranks for M.Tech admission. 

GATE is a national-level exam conducted for the admission of post-graduate degree programmes to Engineering and Technology in India. Thus, the students must foresee the dates of the GATE examination for the academic year under consideration, which usually occur in February. After the GATE results are announced, which are usually in March, the application process for the School of Data Science and Forecasting will proceed for that academic year. Those candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in the relevant domain of study should be eligible under the M.Tech.programmes offered by the school.

School of Data Science and Forecasting Application Process

  • GATE Examination: Candidates should appear for the GATE examination in the relevant subject area. The GATE score is a crucial component of the admission process.
  • Online Application: After the announcement of GATE results, the school shall possibly open its online application. The candidates will fill in the application form and furnish personal details along with academic history and GATE score.
  • Document Submission: Applicants have to submit scanned copies of required documents.
  • Application Fee: Candidates may pay the application fee through any of the online payment methods.
  • Merit List: The school will probably prepare a merit list based on GATE score and any other conditions laid down by the particular school.
  • Counselling and Admission: The candidates shall then be called for the counselling where they would verify their original documents and complete the admission process.

School of Data Science and Forecasting M.Tech Admission Process

  • M.Tech in Big Data Analytics: Under the purview of the School of Data Science and Forecasting, this programme is permitted to admit 24 students. School of Data Science and Forecasting admissions into the programme are based on the GATE score of the candidates. The programme is intended to essentially develop students in advanced knowledge of handling and leading analyses on the massive datasets that are predominant in our world today. 
  • M.Tech in Data Science: Another specialised programme of the school, the M.Tech Data Science programme, has an intake of 24 students. School of Data Science and Forecasting admission into the M.Tech programme in Data Science mainly relies on the GATE scores in a manner similar to the programme of Big Data Analytics. The programme seeks to train individuals in the management of machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualisation, which are all core functional aspects of data science.

These two M.Tech programmes are conducted full-time and aim to impart advanced knowledge and skill sets necessary in a professional data science and analytics environment. The selection process for both programmes has a similar setup whereby the GATE score is the primary selection criterion.
