Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, and Chennai are some of the leading engineering institutions in India. Even sometimes they are regarded as the No.1 private engineering college in India. As the placement and other facilities of the college are up to the mark, near around 2 lakhs of students every year gives VITEEE exam to get admission either to VIT, Vellore or VIT, Chennai. VIT has announced the results for VITEEE held on 28, 29 and 31st May. It has also released a set of guidelines for the admission procedure through a circular.

As per the released guidelines, students with a rank above 100000 are only allowed admissions in the Bhopal and Amravati campuses that too in phase 5. So there is no way you can even  get admission at VIT Vellore or VIT Chennai.

Many factors play a key role in the determination of the cut-off. They are:

• The difficulty level of the examination.
• The cut-off trends from the previous years.
• The number of candidates appearing for the exam.
• A total number of seats available for admissions.

Unfortunately, given the cut-off trends of the past years, you may not be able to get a CSE seat at VIT Chennai. But cut-offs are subjected to change every year depending on the factors given above. So don't lose hope. Also, you could give VIT AP and VIT Bhopal a try as well.

As you have mentioned that you have got 12.3 k in the viteee exam ,so you would definitely secure computer science branch/ specialisation in category 2.  Securing in category 1 with this rank is difficult as the seats gets filled very quickly in category 1.

Coming to the campus selection, vit vellore would be the number choice with this rank. Other campuses like vit chennai or vit bhopal or vit Andhra Pradesh are not as famous as vit vellore for its cse placements.

As per the previous cut-off trends, VIT Chennai might not offer CSE in round 1 of counseling, however, there is a fair chance in other phases.

VIT Vellore is the best and first campus of VIT University, followed by VIT Chennai. Though both the Campuses has similar curriculum, infrastructure, VIT Vellore enjoys a stronger employer outlook, campus culture, competition and placement prospects. As far as Placements of VIT Chennai are concerned,they are conducted alongwith VIT Vellore. Theyre at par with VIT Vellore for Top Branches like CSE, IT and ECE, with more than 90% students getting placed with a median pay between 5-7 LPA. However, for other branches, the situation is bleak with around 50-60% Placements, with a median pay between 2-4 LPA, mostly by IT, Software, Marketing and Few Core Firms.

It is difficult to get Computer Science Engineering branch is VIT Vellore for your VITEEE Rank because your rank does not fall under the previous year's cut-offs of Computer Science Engineering in VIT Vellore Campus. You may get CSE in Category 5 but yoy need to pay additional Rs. 2.5 Lakhs per annum.
