The college infrastructure is really good. People with interest can easily learn new skills, get into new projects and get well versed in various tech skills. It is really a great place to start or boost ones knowledge. The infrastructure the college provides meets the International standards.
The infrastructure at VIT Chennai is exceptional, surpassing even that of many IITs and other private institutions. The air-conditioned hostels provide comfort, and the quality of food in the mess is commendable.
It has pretty decent infrastructure. We have all the necessity amenities nearby, hence the infrastructure complements the busy student life of engineering. We have Domino's in the campus, also we have in campus gym and salon.
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 54,067, your prospects for securing ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering) or EEE (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) at VIT Chennai under Category 3 fall into the “possible but not guaranteed” range. Statistically, EEE tends to have a slightly higher cutoff than ECE, so your chances there are marginally better. Securing ECE is more competitive, and would likely require the cutoff to shift higher than in previous years.
Should Category 3 not be available to you, Categories 4 and 5 remain options, though these will involve a significantly higher fee structure.
Recommended steps:
- Actively participate in Phase 2 counselling. Early engagement can make a difference.
- Prioritize ECE as your first choice, with EEE as a backup, and submit your Chennai campus preferences promptly.
Please bear in mind that Category 3 fees are substantially higher than those for Categories 1 or 2. Seat allocation also varies annually, based on applicant numbers, their preferences, and dropout rates.

If your son’s first preference is CSE, then Amrita Bangalore clearly leads among the three, simply because CSE opens more doors in terms of placements, internships, and future-proof careers. Amrita is also NAAC A++ and has a strong reputation, especially for CSE. Category 2 is also manageable fee-wise compared to higher categories.
VIT Chennai is a decent campus, and their ECE program is solid, but Category 5 means much higher fees and very low chance of branch upgrade later. CSE at VIT Chennai would have been more competitive here — but ECE at that fee tier is not as strong a deal unless your son has a strong interest in core electronics.
Manipal Bangalore (MIT Bengaluru campus) is a newer campus. ECE there is still developing in terms of placements and faculty compared to the main Manipal campus. Unless your son strongly prefers Bangalore or is getting some advantage here like scholarships or internship access, it doesn't stand out above Amrita.
So, recommendation: Go with Amrita Bangalore CSE (Category 2). It balances a strong branch with a decent campus and better long-term potential in the tech industry. If your son is open to core electronics and you’re okay with the higher cost, VIT Chennai is fine, but still comes second to CSE at Amrita.
All the best!
Hello Aspirant,
Pursuing a CSE branch (like AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity etc.) at VIT Chennai with a 74,000 VITEEE rank is unlikely in the first few rounds as these branches have high demand and close in the earlier round around the top 30,000 - 50,000 ranks typically. Your chances could improve in later rounds or through a Category Upgrade, depending on the availability of seats and cut-off trends for the current year. Keep an eye on the official updates for the counselling and also on the other campuses or check for other branches like IT or core CSE which you might be open to. VITEEE cutoff 2025
