Firstly you should choose stream based on your interests and not on placements and rankings but if you want to compare then definately you should go for iit dhanbad cs as it has excellent faculty and infrastructure and also provides different opportunities in research work.

Based on your options mentioned by you, if you get, then you should go for IIT Varanasi as it is one of the oldest IITs. The faculties are evry well experienced. The Institute is having all the facilities. The IIT Varanasi comes under the top IITs.

You can not do one semester in IIT Gandhinagar or any other IIT as the IITs do not have this facility of providing semester wise study to outside students, there are some student exchange plan but they are for the foreign students and not all IITs have them.
