Course Overview

Prof Anjali Gera Roy conducts the Speaking Effectively programme, a core course under the discipline of humanities and social sciences. IIT Kharagpur has organised this eight-week course which is taught at an undergraduate level of understanding. To comprehend the course content efficiently, candidates must have intermediate-level experience with the English language.

The Speaking Effectively online course introduces the working and formation of effective spoken communication. Candidates will learn that speech is an autonomous mode with a characteristic style, structure, syntax, vocabulary and how it is registered. The course focuses on mastering the principles of speech such as body language, pronunciation, vocabulary and the essential skills required to carry a conversation.

The Speaking Effectively certification course will also train students in advanced areas such as interview conversations, formal public presentations, participation in meetings, and so on. candidates will learn from practical experience because the course encourages one-on-one interactions, small group interactions, and speaking before an audience.

Eligibility Criteria

To understand the contents of the Speaking Effectively online course, candidates must have intermediate-level knowledge of the English language.

Certification qualifying details

Candidates have to submit eight internal assignments. Among these, the six best are selected. Applicants have to maintain a minimum of at least 10 out of the 25 marks in these assignments. It is compulsory to get 30 out of the 75 marks in the exam as well.

The Speaking Effectively certification will have 25 per cent of the assignment marks and 75 per cent of the external exam marks.

Step 2. Go to the menu bar to open a learning account and click on 'Sign-in/Register'.

Step 3. Enter the details in the blank spaces and click ‘send verification code’.

Step 4. Insert the code in the space and press the button ‘Verify code’.

Step 5. Hit ‘Create’ and pick the course to begin learning.

Application Details

Students do not need to fill out any forms to register for Speaking Effectively by Swayam. By entering your password, email ID, and username, sign up for Swayam. Complete creating the account by adding in the verification code. Now, you can join the course.

Evaluation process

When the URLs of the exam registration form are released, an announcement will notify the candidates. Students must give their details in the form and submit it by paying the Speaking Effectively programme examination fee. Attend the examination as per the date, timings, and allotted centre specified on the form.
