The Applied Thermodynamics certification course is a 12-week programme. This course is designed for undergraduate students and is supported by the Engineering Thermodynamics or Basic Thermodynamics industries. The certification course aims to equip the students with the required skills and knowledge to carry out a thermodynamic analysis of any device.
The students will gain hands-on training with the support of leading industry experts. The Applied Thermodynamics certification by NPTEL provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes the derivation of entropy change of control volume, the exergy of a system, and tutorials. The students will also learn about the thermodynamic cycle - Rankine cycle, and Brayton cycle with intercooling.

Certification Qualifying Details
The candidates will receive a certificate upon competition of the Applied Thermodynamics online course.
After completing the Applied Thermodynamics certification syllabus, the students will be able to perform the thermodynamic analysis of any device. They will also be able to evaluate the first-law and second-law efficiencies and any other thermodynamic property of interest. With hands-on training by leading industry professionals, the students will gain a deep understanding of the subject.
Students with learned concepts and methods will be able to perform the analysis and evaluation in real-world projects. Upon the completion of the Applied Thermodynamics training, the students will learn about computing thermodynamic properties of interest at the exit of a nozzle with air or steam as the working substance.
This course is beneficial for aspiring students to enhance their relevant skills and knowledge. The Applied Thermodynamics certification course is also beneficial for:
Tutorials - 2 & 3, Entropy change of a control volume, Work interaction of internally reversible steady flow processes
Tutorials - 5 & 6, Exergy transfer and exergy change of a system and control volume
To get eligible for the Applied Thermodynamics online course, the students must write an examination and qualify with a minimum of 25% in the assignments and 75% in the written exam, out of a total of 100 marks.
