Course Overview

Our world is surrounded by several environmental challenges that are becoming troublesome by the day. Therefore, the online course in Applied Environmental Microbiology by Swayam aims to teach students about these pressing issues by developing in-depth knowledge about microbial processes and communities, found in inbuilt and natural environments. The program holds impeccable industry support from numerous water and wastewater treatment organizations, Biotechnological companies, and Bioremediation entities.

The Applied Environmental Microbiology certification syllabus lays a firm foundation of basic microbial energetics, microbiology, and diversity. Then, it progresses to microbiology’s tools, state-of-the-art and traditional applications, and how they address relevant environmental problems. The curriculum offers a holistic exploration of microbes’ diverse roles, microbial communities, cell elements, ecology, microbial energetics, environmental microbial processes, and more.

The Applied Environmental Microbiology online course is a 12-week, free elective training, under the civil Engineering and Environment category. This postgraduate-level program also offers certification, for which candidates must register, pay the exam fees, and clear the course-end proctored assessment. In doing so, they’ll earn an e-verified certification with NPTEL and IIT Roorkee’s logos.

Evaluation process

Swayam conducts course-end proctored tests for students to get the Applied Environmental Microbiology certification. The examination will be held one in one of Swayam’s designated examination centres, via an afternoon and morning session. To participate in this, candidates must complete the online registration form once released and pay the test fees.

The final score will determine a student’s eligibility to get the certificate. This score will be the total of their average assignment and term-end test scores. To pass, candidates must score 30/75 in the assessment and 10/25 in the curriculum assignments. If they fail to fulfil these criteria, they won’t receive certification even after scoring 40/100 or more.
