According to your rank and based on the previous year cutoff, chances would be less of getting a seat in NITs, IIITs through JoSAA Counselling.

It is quite good in the academic year 2017–18. And yes it is branch specific.

CS,EC,EE,EI,ME has got almost 95% placements. AVG package varies. Avg packages: CS-10.5lpa EC-7.5lpa EI-8lpa EE-7lpa ME-6.lpa

ID,MM,CH,BT,MN,FP,Civil would get 80–85%. Almost 6lpa for all.

Mscs, it would be around 4–5 lpa.

I will suggest you the Nit Rourkela which is premier institute for engineering in india.

The NIT Rourkela is one of the the highest cutoff and desired college for students

Academics , study and placements are also good.
