It would be difficult to tell you about the chances of admission as reservation for EWS category has been provided for the first time in JEE Main exam and previous year cutoffs are not available for reference.

According to your rank and based on the previous year cutoff, chances would be less of getting a seat in NITs, IIITs through JoSAA Counselling.

You might have chances of getting a seat in Engineering colleges through state level counselling. Use the JEE Main College Predictor Tool to check

It is quite good in the academic year 2017–18. And yes it is branch specific.

CS,EC,EE,EI,ME has got almost 95% placements. AVG package varies. Avg packages: CS-10.5lpa EC-7.5lpa EI-8lpa EE-7lpa ME-6.lpa

ID,MM,CH,BT,MN,FP,Civil would get 80–85%. Almost 6lpa for all.

Mscs, it would be around 4–5 lpa.

I will suggest you the Nit Rourkela which is premier institute for engineering in india.

The NIT Rourkela is one of the the highest cutoff and desired college for students

Academics , study and placements are also good.
