First of all RGIPT is anINSTITUTE OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCEas listed on the MHRD website along with the other IITs. That is the main reason you should choose RGIPT over other private colleges or state government colleges as it is a central govt college.
Coming to answer,on the scale of 1 to 10 I would like to rate RGIPT 9 out of 10and IITs will be like DIME (10/10). You will get to know the IITs culture and thepeer group will surely have a level as that of IITs students. And all the activities that happen in RGIPT are highly systematically organised and managed by the concerning students committee members.
For eg. the cultural activities are conducted over the hood of cul sec (cultural secretary) who manages all the committee's commencing and respective committee's head report cul sec the work done by volunteers and members under them.
Committees are like - sponsorship committee, public relations committee, event management committee, hostipatility committee, online events & cyber gaming committee, catering committee etc. There are total 12 committees which work together to manage student's all activities.
There are clubs for the students to increase their personalities and skills. LikewiseARPANis a social club for improvising life's of underprivileged students and their family of nearby villages through teaching them in the schools and providing them best education and necessary items for living like mattresses pillows, clothes and bags etc.
RGIPT also organise blood donation camp to help others life's.
Academics are also at the level of IITS as students are getting placed in PSUs in large numbers. PSUs like ONGC, BPCL, IOCL, HPCL, Haldia petrochemicals, OIL visits RGIPT and recruit large number of students (appx 35-45 %). Rest of the students pursue higher degrees from abroad and few goes for mtech and private companies.
Students having AIR 472 (gen), 1100 (gen) are studying in my batch, so one can imagine the level of discussion during the tutorials and lectures. Professors are having quite a good knowledge and they are masters of their subjects.
