HEY THERE!!
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 2015, you do not qualify for Bioinformatics under Category 1 at VIT Vellore. The anticipated Category 1 cutoff for Bioinformatics is around ranks 650 to 700. But you have a good possibility of obtaining Bioinformatics under Category 2, which usually takes ranks up to 3,000, although the fees will be more than Category 1.
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 2015 , you are in an excellent position — that's a top rank .
Yes, you will very likely get Bioinformatics under Category 1 at VIT Vellore .
Bioinformatics is a less competitive branch compared to core ones like CSE, CSE with AI/ML, or ECE .
In previous years, Category 1 cutoff ranks for Bioinformatics at Vellore were generally well beyond 10,000–15,000 .
With your 2015 rank , you’ll be eligible not just for Bioinformatics , but also for many better-ranked branches under Category 1 , depending on availability.
Biotechnology
Biomedical Engineering
Electronics and Instrumentation
Even core branches like Mechanical or EEE under Category 1 or 2.
Hello,
with a VITEEE 202 rank of 2015, securing Bioinformatics under category 1 at VIT Vellore is unlikely, as the expected cutoff for category 1 is between ranks 650 to 700. however, you have a strong chance of admission under category 2, which typically includes ranks up to 3000. while category 2 entails higher tuition fees than category 1, it still offers a good opportunity to pursue bioinformatics at VIT Vellore.
With a 55 percentile in JEE Mains 2025 (approx. CRL rank around 690,000 ) and a VITEEE 2025 rank of 212000 , here’s a realistic overview of your admission chances for CSE, ECE, or EEE branches :
You will not get CSE, ECE, or EEE in VIT Vellore or Chennai , even in higher fee categories (Cat 4/5). However, you might get admission in :
VIT Bhopal
VIT-AP (Amaravati)
Likely branches in VIT Bhopal or VIT-AP :
EEE or ECE in Category 3 or 4
CSE (less likely but try filling all categories if budget allows)
Fees in Cat 3/4 can be high (around Rs 2.5–3.5 lakhs/year tuition + hostel).
This is a moderate-to-low percentile , but with CSE/ECE/EEE in mind , you can consider:
You may apply to:
Chandigarh University – good placements, accepts low JEE ranks
Sharda University , Greater Noida
Galgotias University , Greater Noida
LPU (Lovely Professional University) – decent for CSE
Amity University – Noida, Jaipur
MIT-WPU Pune
UPES Dehradun
If you’re from:
Uttar Pradesh : Apply through AKTU counselling – get into private colleges with ECE/EEE.
Madhya Pradesh/DTE : Some regional govt colleges may accept this score under reserved quota.
Bihar (BCECE) or Maharashtra : Not likely in top-tier, but some low-ranked private colleges may take you.
Apply to VIT-AP and VIT Bhopal and consider EEE/ECE branches.
Apply to private universities via direct admission or JEE-based admission.
Keep an eye on state counselling registrations .
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 20,775 , and your preference for Category 1 or 2 only , here’s a realistic and strategic breakdown of the best options across VIT campuses based on previous year trends:
VIT Vellore (Main Campus):
At this rank, Category 1 is unlikely here for top branches. In Category 2, you may get branches like Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Biotechnology. Core CSE or CSE specializations (AI, DS) are generally not available after rank 15,000, even in Category 2.
VIT Chennai:
You have good chances in Category 1 or 2. CSE (Core), CSE with AI/ML, and Data Science may be available in Category 2. ECE, EEE, and Mechanical are likely to be available in Category 1. Chennai is a strong campus with good placements, especially in tech branches.
VIT Bhopal and VIT-AP:
You can get almost any branch in Category 1, including CSE, CSE with AI and ML, CSE with Data Science, ECE, EEE, and Bioengineering. These are newer campuses but are growing fast and offer modern curriculum and good infrastructure.
Best Choices for Category 1 or 2:
At VIT Chennai: go for CSE, CSE-AI, or ECE.
At VIT Vellore: consider ECE, EEE, Mechanical, or Biotech in Category 2.
At VIT Bhopal or VIT-AP: CSE and its specializations are available in Category 1.
With a VITEEE 2025 rank of 74,000 , securing admission to the B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program at VIT-AP University under Category 1 or Category 2 is not feasible .
Based on previous years' data, the cutoff ranks for the CSE program at VIT-AP are as follows:
Category 1 : Up to 15,000
Category 2 : 15,001 – 25,000
Category 3 : 25,001 – 40,000
Category 4 : 40,001 – 55,000
Given your rank of 74,000 , you fall beyond the typical cutoff for Category 5. While there might be slight variations in cutoff ranks each year based on factors like seat availability and applicant pool, it's unlikely that the cutoff for Category 5 would extend significantly beyond 70,000.
Consider Other Campuses : VIT Bhopal and VIT Chennai may have slightly higher cutoff ranks for CSE in higher categories. Exploring these campuses could increase your chances of admission.
Explore Other Specializations : If you're open to related fields, programs like CSE with specializations in AI/ML , Data Science , or Cybersecurity might have different cutoff trends.
Look into Other Institutions : Private universities such as SRM Institute of Science and Technology , Amity University , or Sharda University offer CSE programs with varying admission criteria.
Alternative Pathways : Consider enrolling in a diploma or certification course in computer science or related fields to build foundational knowledge, and then explore lateral entry options into B.Tech programs. https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/viteee-cutoff
With a rank of 74,000 in VITEEE, it is unlikely that you will secure admission in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in either Category 1 or Category 2 at VIT AP, as the cutoffs for CSE are generally higher. However, you may explore other branches or options.

Hope this helps you!
VIT Vellore has the most amazing infrastructure! The campus is huge and super clean. Classrooms are modern, labs are well equipped, and there are so many cool spots to hang out. It feels great to study here !
The infrastructure of the academic blocks is as you expect from any college and is really good and perfect with proper and big and spacious classrooms, labs, along with big spaces for sitting and also canteens shops and even the toilets are really good and well maintained other than that the campus is also really beautiful and spacious with many trees facilities along with transport facilities and various sports ammendments although the hostels depend on which type of block and room you pick they are mostly good except for summer times when vellore is really hot ACs in classrooms should've been put although they are present in labs and rooms, the food is also dependent on your block but it's really mostly good only.
Overall insfrastructure is average. academic building are well maintained but hostels are very congested. Once u get any any room its very hard to change(they will act like SBI employees to u when u fill application for room changing).
