Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran is very prestigious college in Punjab forEngineering. There are some advandages and disadvantages of this college.

Disadvantages

75% Attendance System
Well, you have to maintain your attendance over 75% in every fortnight. They calculate attendance in every fortnight. If your attendance is short in first fortnight, then you need 85% attendance in next fortnight. That's the worst thing about this colleges.
You will get only 10% attendance if you are on medical leave. So, you have to attend each and every class.
There are 8 marks for attendance in Internals. You will get 7/8, if your attendance is above 90%.

LACK OF PRACTICAL EDUCATION

CGC is only responsible for your PTU exams. They are not going to teach you about projects in classes.Yeah, if you really want to do projects then you have to join various project clubs in college. Teachers have very poor knowledge of projects. They only focus on PTU syllabus.
In LABS you are going to write only practical files.

ASSIGNMENTS

Assignments are useless. Most of the students arefrustratedbecause of assignments. There is no need of such useless assignments. You have to just copy from your friends assignments. There are 8 marks for assignments in Internals.

ADVANTAGES

PLACEMENTS
CGC is well known college for their placement Records. Many companies including Microsoft and Google visits every year. Most of the students get placed every year.
Placement in core companies are very less. You will get placed in IT Companies. Your stream doesn't matter at all.Mechanical students are getting placed in IT sector. This is not good for mechanical but they are doing itbecause there are less opportunity in Core sector.
TPP CLASSES
Training and placement program is new launch of CGC.In 4th sem you have to pay 4500 extra from fee to register in this program. They are going to teach youPrograming, Aptitude and Soft skills under thisprogram. It's quite beneficial for the Placements.
Well, the fee of this college is also very less as compared to various colleges. I'm also one of the final year student of this college waiting for my dream company.

Hope it will help you

Hello Aspirant!

Chandigarh University is better than CGC Landran. Chandigarh University is a separate University whereas CGC come under the PTU. Studying in a different University has its own perks as compared to studying in CGC. If you look at the placements and academics Chandigarh University is much more better than CGC in both the cases.

Dear Aspirant,

Chandigarh University Jhanjheri is relatively new campus as compared to Chandigarh University Landran.  CGC Landran has better facilities and eminent personality visits and more prestigious events taking place. It has a huge campus playgrounds, parks and  many sports opportunities compared to CGC Jhanjheri which has new modern and relatively compact infrastructure. Most importantly, during campus placements, most of the placement drives take place in CGC Landran.. and only very few in CGC Jhanjeri.
