Admission Process 2021
Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. courses in engineering. The college also offers MCA programme. To get admission to B.E and B.Tech courses offered by MCET, students need to appear for the state level counselling - Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. There is no entrance test for TNEA counselling and the merit list will be prepared based on the candidates score at 12 class, choice filling, choice locking and document verification. Admission to M.E and MCA is based on the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). To get an admission to Ph.D, candidates have to follow the guidelines of the Anna University.
Admission process for B.E.:
Students need to appear for Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) based on their qualifying examination marks.
For appearing in counselling round students need to register in TNEA portal and select Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology as their top preference and the branch they seek admission in.
The merit list will be prepared accordingly the weightage to percentile obtained by the candidate in TNEA, board exam, choice filling and counselling.
Admission process for M.E:
Students need to appear for the entrance examination - (TANCET), conducted by Anna University.
Students can visit the official website of Anna University to register themselves for TANCET.
Counselling is conducted based on the ranking in the entrance examination.
Candidates with a valid GATE score are eligible for direct admission.
Final selection is based on the merit list prepared by the authority.
Admission process for MCA:
Candidates need to appear for the TANCET MCA Entrance Exam.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on TANCET Counselling process.

Admission Process for PhD:
Candidates need to apply online at the official website of the college.
Admission to PhD is based on the rank secured in the entrance examination conducted by the respective research department of the college.
Candidates with UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF, UGC-NET/JRF, SLET, GATE are exempted from the Entrance Test.
The final selection is based on the candidate's score in the entrance test and the interview.

Government Quota– Admission Procedure
- The admission application is issued by The Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) Anna University, Chennai.
- After submitting the application by the candidates, the certificates are scrutinised by TNEA.
- Random Number and Rank List will be published by TNEA
- Based on the Random Number, the candidates are called for single window counselling by TNEA.
- TNEA is issuing allotment order to the candidates.
- Based on the allotment order, candidates are admitted to the college.
- At the time of admission, all originals certificates are collecting at the college and these are submitted to the Director of Technical Education office (DOTE), Chennai for verification.
- After verification of all original certificates, DOTE office will issue the approval order for the admission of the students to the institution.
Management Quota– Admission Procedure
- The Consortium of self – financing professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu will publish information brochure for admission of students under management quota.
- Admission applications form is issued by a consortium of self – financing professional colleges in Tamil Nadu.
- After submitting the application by the candidates, it is scrutinised by Consortium.
- Rank List will be published by Consortium.
- Candidates are admitted in the college based on the Rank List.
- At the time of admission, all originals certificates are collecting at the college and these are submitted to the Director of Technical Education office (DOTE), Chennai for verification.
- After verification of all original certificates, DOTE office will issue the approval order for the admission of the students to the institution.
