Think beyond the IIMs! With placements that are at par with IIM A, world class faculty, and fees that is peanuts, can you argue that this isn't the best bschool in India..or for that matter, Asia itself. FMS has been offering MBA (and not PGDM) from ages. It has Asia's largest finance lab(I lost count of the number of bloomberg terminals now). Seriously, I wonder why it isn't ranked at 1! Just because FMS doesn't have hostels? I do not see ANY other parameter where FMS doesn't have an edge against any bschool in the country.

FMS does not give you the cliched B-school plush infrastructure, what it does give you is the opportunity to realise your corporate aspirations with no frills-value learning through learning by doing. The institute boasts of a entirely student run MSA(Student body) which works towards placements,domain-specific-mentorship,peer based learning which is an essential part in the rigorous everyday itinerary of any typical FMSite. The institute has an excellent record of placements and has incorporated Leadership talk series a.k.a Arthashastra talk series by eminent industry veterans, holds regular Know your Alumni sessions(an informal meet up over tea) and further plans to invite women achievers in corporate engagements to foster balance of perspectives on the corporate student engagement platform. The institute is currently trying to raise the gender ratio from 1:7,every student passes the CAT score(90% weightage)and extempore ritual(10%)to get admitted to FMS.Life at FMS is bonding over with people over assignments with sacrosant deadlines, match screenings, parties and 15 min breaks between classes. You get to compete with highly competitive top CAT percentilers to bag the Dean roll's of honour for the top ten 10% of the students securing highest marks in the exams yet you also get to learn valuable insights within the classrooms through case simulations, participatory interactions with the faculty which lends a subtle value to the knowledge base of the student.Apart from access to HBR e-resources,students' need of other e-resources is trying to get addressed by raising enough funds to provide superior learning.I completely owe my summer internship at Tata Steel to the faculty and fellow peers.Coming to the accomodation aspect,An FMSite has great deal of flexibility in choosing a rented place to stay as FMS is a non residential campus,it provides a break from the usual hostel bound atmosphere. The USP of FMS being in the Delhi-NCR region also acts a great opportunity for students to get involved in live projects and derive the most out of a low fee-no EMI after MBA system.

Coming from Marutius, I actually was not very comfortable in the first few months. The level of hard work and effort I had to put was very high. This but helped me to shape the person I am today. Though FMS does not has it's own hostel but I was lucky enough to get International hostel of Delhi University. I found a new home away from home in FMS and DU. I am placed in AB Inbev and look forward to a great career ahead.

A place where dreams are fulfilled

Batch of 2018 | MBA
Life at FMS can be defined as one which teaches you multiple lessons in a very short span of two years. FMS in itself a small world inside DU, wherein a student has experiences which turn out to be lifetime learnings. FMS is a small building with students whose dreams are not confined to the area the college covers. With limited resources and efficient management, a total of 600 (or more) students study on campus, which has two Lecture Halls with a capacity of 200 students each and around 10 rooms with an occupancy of 80 students each. Even though there is dearth of rooms, the knowledge sharing and the level of intellect that students and professors have is unmatchable. The professors are one of the bests in Delhi University which is a reason for the top rank that FMS holds. In terms of placements, FMS ranks in the top 5 MBA colleges of India, which is well deserved and something every FMS student is proud of. It is a building whether dreams are realised per square inch, and with every upcoming batch the flag will fly high.

Life at FMS

Batch of 2017 | MBA
It was wonderful to spend two years in FMS. Great industry exposure. Learnt to work in time frame. As FMS is part of University of Delhi, we got the opportunity to use its infrastructure. FMS has the highest ROI among all B-Schools. As a foreigner I enjoyed the stay in International Students House which is part of University of Delhi. Placements are one of the best thing in FMS where I got the chance to work with a leading FMCG Company.

Batch of 2018 | MBA
When the external person looks at FMS, all he or she finds is the attractive placement report and probably the best ROI. But there is much more than that hidden in this "Red Building of Dreams"! The best thing about FMS is the collaborative atmosphere among students here. The student body has majority of responsibilities over here in terms of making student life more and more interesting and they always strive for the same in selfless manner. Although FMS hasn't been good in terms of infrastructure or the other facilities when compared to other premier colleges but one thing that stands out here is the development of ability of students to make their lives much more interesting and achieve all the goals through all the constraints they have over here. Students over here are all the toppers in CAT exam and which makes this pool very talented and competitive one. To match this caliber of students, FMS has amazing set of faculties, all being extremely skilled and talented in their own domain, may it be Marketing, Finance, Operations, Strategy, HR or others. 90% attendance being mandatory here makes life bit difficult for students but again that's what allows them to extract maximum out of lectures over here. Being placed in HT Media for summer internship, I can proudly say that placements over here are extremely good and none really has to worry about their future jobs much once they get admission over here. Fees being the least in the country, with no pressure of loan you can always strive to achieve all your dreams over here may it be curricular or extra-curricular.

Red Building of Dreams

Batch of 2018 | MBA
Infrastructure is not as par with other MBA colleges but when it comes to resources needed, Student Body Committee manage to arrange. Corporate Exposure is something which every student aspire for and we get it through Guest Lectures and other sessions. We usually have these sessions fixed in every week. The peer group and the activities we have inside the campus are very interesting and learning. College has good facility of Class rooms and Library is also there in which required stationary is always available. Canteen facility is inside the college. In sports Badminton court and TT is inside the college arena. Overall the infrastructure is not that huge but essential infrastructure is provided by the college. Faculty members are very dedicated towards their course and always try to make the class environment very competitive. Attendance is a thing to worry as students below 75% attendance cannot appear for Examination and below 90% attendance means that you are out of the placement process. Placements are usually in month of December (Lateral Placements) and final placements in month of February. Companies register for the placements and recruit candidates in good numbers. Year by Year placements are showing increment in Average package. Last year Median package was above 20 Lakh INR per annum and Highest domestic package was 66 lakh INR per annum. I recommend this college to the peoplewho have a real crave for exploring opportunities as it offers you the best and helps you achieve your dreams.

Despite lack of proper infrastructure and resources, college staff, faculty, students and everybody here has never compromised on maintaining an environment that promotes immense learning and skill development. The building though an old one now, still stands tall and delivers some of the greatest minds to the business industry. Team-building and peer support, some extremely dedicated hearts and souls for betterment of the college are the flag-bearers for this dream building.

It has been a life changing experience. Be it professors, placement or cultural activities. Students here are very competitive. They make FMS poud by winning most sought after corporate competitions like HUL LIME, TBLA, Nestle 4p, Asian paints canvas and many more. FMSites leave their mark everywhere. Faculty is very knowledgeable and supporting. It completely transforms you within 2 years of its MBA full time course. Last but not the least, highest ROI across all B-Scools in India. I mean, who gives you average 20+ lakh package with 20K fees.

It's not just an MBA, it's future orientation

Batch of 2017 | MBA
Being so widely known for its phenomenal "ROI", other value additions you gain at FMS get overshadowed by the one thing we are conditioned to aim for through an MBA. It is true that an MBA has become a symbol of social equity. The typical MBA candidate is conditioned to run after the highest CTC and do everything that it takes to look good in social circles or to pay his/her monthly installments in an easy way. Even after getting a job, there is no intention to build a career at a firm. The conditioning in a candidate compels him/her to switch firms and gain jumps in his/her compensation. Everything takes a backseat to "what can make my CV look better". At FMS, you experience true freedom. Not compelled by the need to pay your EMIs, candidates are free to choose their profession solely based on their interests and not based on which field pays better. You need not even take up a job. You can be an entrepreneur. At FMS, entrepreneurs are allowed the concession of a placement holiday, which means that if your venture does not work out, you have the backup of sitting for placements for upto 2 years after graduating and getting jobs which will pay you over 20LPA on average. It is precisely this reason that makes FMS graduates loyal to their firms. It is because they are there in that firm for a career and not a job that pays the bills. No college in the country can offer you that. For me, having been exposed to the corporate circles so intimately through Alumni and corporate interactions, i feel I have greatly grown as an individual whether it is the growth in my business acumen or my soft skills. One thing I think I have gained from FMS is that I would not feel intimidated talking to a CXO level person because interactions with them is a regular event, thanks to FMS being located in Delhi. With over 200 guest lectures in a year, students at FMS are exposed to the latest in the business world from the best in the corporate circles. FMS in that way, has primed me for a career in the corporate world in a way that no other college could have. Future orientation - THAT is the real "ROI".

FMS is a small college at the corner of the vast north campus of Delhi University. Contradictory to the size of the building, this college hosts some of the most brilliant minds in the country. Being a small college, it feels like a home where you see familiar faces day in and day out and interact with almost all students in your batch on a daily basis. It hosts some of the best faculty in the country, that more than makes up for the lack of infrastructure.

FMS for me has always stood for freedom to choose. In this extremely competitive B-School environment, students generally have to focus on the highest paying jobs, with lakhs of loans on their head. Here we have the best of all worlds minus that loan. We have an amazing placement history due to our interface with the industry for the last 60 odd years. The brand image of FMS is such that people starting up are given a lot of support, both from within and outside the college. People also decide to pursue higher studies from abroad if academia is their guiding light. The peer group is amazing. The diversity in thoughts and raw talent here is unbelievable. Overall, FMS is what B-School really stood for at a point in time. Pursuing your passion unhindered.

The cheap MBA

Batch of 2018 | MBA
FMS is considered to teach us MBA at the minimum monetary cost. However, the cost in terms of our effort is quite huge. Considered by many as a chill campus, it initially breaks students down and moulds them to the MBA pattern, one where you have the belief that your can accomplish anything, anywhere, anytime. The induction sets the stage for the upcoming next big event, the summer placements. FMS sheets are one of the best in the MBA education circuit. Top marketing and other companies come to the campus and recruit students in large numbers. The biggest plus point of FMS is that it's student-run to a large extent. Starting from placements to even teaching the juniors, the students have to wear a lot of hats in this college. This prepares the students for a good and enriching career, once they are placed. However, as with any MBA college, the life in FMS is pretty Placement-centric, and other activities tend to take a hit. The fact that we do not have to sell a kidney to study here gets reflected in the infrastructure of the college, which is not as good as can be expected from a college of this stature. The lack of a hostel facility for all the students is also a major stumbling block. The biggest negative about FMS is that you lose the bragging rights in front of the layman. But, if that's a prime motivation, even the newest IIMs would seem a better option.

Faculty of management studies (Delhi) is a great college with best faculty and great exposure across the industries. Experience of this college is something very different from other management college .it is college with unique culture and gives support to extracurricular activities .the institute is pretty old and does not exactly have out of the world infrastructure .fms attracts best professor from Delhi . Pedagogy is quite classroom oriented and emphasis is put on academic brillance. With experience of about 60 years in the continuously evolving field of management education ,the institution has closely seen all that has taken place in the area of business , entrepreneurship , economics policies and industrial relations. Guest lecture are also conducted on a regular basis so that students can easily relate the theory they ate taught in classes with the working of the corporate world

FMS has been a learning experience since the day I entered the campus. Amazing seniors, a diverse set of peers, great teachers, a plethora of opportunities and an open platform to express oneself, FMS has given me all of these in one go. It also provided me with a platform to interact with many senior level executives of the business world which helped in widening perspectives about the business world. All in all, it has helped me grow as a person and I am sure I have a lot yet to be learnt here.

FMS, situated in the heart of North Campus, Delhi University, is not your quintessential MBA college. Having the best in class pedagogy and a environment to match, it has served as a stepping for thousands into corporate life over its illustrious history of more than 60 years. Another fact which sets FMS apart is its fee structure which makes it affordable to all sections of the society. Would recommend to CAT aspirants.

Batch of 2017 | MBA
Situated in the heart of Delhi, FMS offers all the basic infrastructural facilities to its students and these facilities are also complemented by its nearness to various other DU campuses which is conducive to greater exposure of the students to fellow students from streams other than MBA. The institute provides hostel facilities but the accommodation capacity is low and most of the students actually live in rented apartments or PGs in the university area itself. The institute boasts some of the best professors in the areas of strategy, marketing, economics, finance, operations and HR and the culture promotes the students to think rather than rote. One even gets to connect with foreign students who enrol as full time students in the institute and this brings in a diverse perspectives to case discussions in the classes. Throughout the year the students are also given ample opportunities to connect with eminent corporate personalities which is fuelled both by its rich alumni network and it being located in the capital of the country. I have been able to leverage these benefits during my stint here and was also able to secure a placement with a top 4 private Indian bank in its Corporate Banking division. And finally one of the most important factor for consideration is the affordability of the course in the institute. In terms of the Return on Investment, FMS is an undisputed leader among all the B-schools in the country.

FMS - Truly the Red Building of Dreams

Sunny Goel
Posted on 16 Feb' 17 by Sunny Goel
Batch of 2017 | MBA
The red building if dreams - as we students and alums and FMS aspirants fondly call it - is a small building in the heart of Delhi University surrounded by some of the best colleges in the country in different streams which not only provides you one of the best platforms to study and learn management with the help of some of the best professors(in their respective domains) in the country but also provides you an opportunity to learn many non-MBA subjects too. FMS has one of the best in class placements with more than 20L average CTC in 2016 and even better in 2017. The student run body of various societies of FMS gives students an opportunity to own up the responsibilities and run the society to become better every year and help all the students to be all-round achievers. For a student like me, who came from a humble background, FMS has been a life-changing experience in terms of the exposure that I received here, whether it was the Marketing Society that I am a part of or the industry exposure that I got through FMS. The competitive and supportive environment helps all the students to grow and become one of the most competitive potential managers in the country. I believe that FMS is rightly called as the place which fulfills the maximum dream per square feet. The small building brings the students closer and motivates students to rise up and to overcome the challenge of having a small building. However, some of the best minds are at work here to take FMS to new heights every year, whether it is about corporate competitions or sports festivals, where FMS students have performed brilliantly by becoming national winners in many of them.

This institute has always show-cased remarkable 100% placements every year. Undoubtedly the best B-school

Posted on 16 Feb' 17 by Fahad Iqbal
Batch of 2017 | MBA
FMS is one of the oldest B schools in India and has till date maintained its reputation of being among the best B schools in India. The learning process is great which is not limited to classroom learning alone. There are various learning opportunities through live projects, corporate competitions, workshops by industry experts and many other things. There is a vast pool of courses to select from across various domains such as - Strategy, Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, IT, etc. in the curriculum for full time MBA programme. These courses are delivered by highly qualified faculty members who are actively involved in research and industry assignments as well. The pedagogy involves active engagement of students in the classroom through case studies and extra activities relevant to the respective courses. There is an active student body in place called the Management Science Association under which all the student initiatives take place. With 13 societies under its umbrella, MSA provides a great number of opportunities to students to take up leadership role and undertake responsibility with complete accountability similar to any organization. Apart from content societies, there is one society to boost entrepreneurship, one to look after social initiatives. Vihan, which is the social service society of FMS has active tie-ups with various NGOs and has taken numerous initiatives in collaboration with them for helping the underprivileged. Placements at FMS have been phenomenal at FMS with better results years after year both in terms of remuneration and the quality and diversity of roles offered during summer internship as well as final placements. Students of FMS actively participate in extra curricular activities both inside and outside college. The sports society and the cultural society at FMS are very active and constantly provide opportunities to pursue extra curricular activities amidst the packed schedules of MBA. All in all FMS is a place where you experience the best two years of your life and live and see your dreams come true, justifying its alias "The Red Building of Dreams".

FMS has limited infrastructure with an efficient way of managing multiple events on campus. The placement team ensures high exposure to the corporate world by bringing multiple professionals on board. Not only it is a wonderful place to be at, but also, everyone gets to know their batch mates (with a batch size of 220 students), unlike other MBA colleges which have a batch strength of more than 400 students. I would be interning with BCCL in Summer'17. Even though there is a low ratio of girls in the college, the college crowd includes people from across India. You also get a chance to go for summer school during the one-month break you get in June, as a part of the DU holidays. Being highly affordable, it will be the best decision of your life to choose FMS over other colleges if you are looking forward to pursuing Marketing or starting your own venture.
