This college is one of the unique experiences in my life. The kind of course curriculum and structure in this institute are exceptionally good in terms of industry experience, conceptual understanding integrated with practical implementation and grassroots level of work. The infrastructure is highly appropriate to facilitate the core learning without any hindrance and also to spend a memorable life for two years. The spirit of IRMA has led to such a beautiful culture that all the diverse activities pertaining to sports, academics, and art are pursued with the same amount of zeal and enthusiasm.

One could not have a better opportunity of writing about his college when he is about to finish his 1st term aka first orientation of a b-school.Wait a minute,IRMA is a top B-school but with a special purpose. The purpose is to create future rural managers. So,here classic courses like economics, statistics are enveloped as economics analysis on rural management or quantitative analysis of rural management.where participants(no student) are acquainted with rural examples of economic theories or statistics of poverty is also discussed. We have three internship one of which is a village fieldwork segment.Regarding hostel life it's a good experience so far as one get friends from different backgrounds starting from agriculture, fisheries to IT.As per placement is concern IRMA provides different options starting from MNC to Development sectors. In a way, if someone is willing to take meaningful career choice,IRMA is for you.

IRMA is a perfect place for the managers to get training in rural management which is the new emerging and yet unsaturated field. Companies are increasingly venturing into the bottom of the pyramid and IRMA provides a perfect ground to attain the required skills. Its internship in the development and corporate sectors lend it ahead of IIMA students in working in rough terrain.

An oasis of learning absolutely different from elsewhere

Batch of Jan. 1, 2017 | PGDM Rural Management
Our campus has a library, Teaching Aid Unit, mess, sports centre, 24x7 WiFi, Auditorium. It needs a good gymnasium, a cafeteria, and a functional bureaucracy. We already have the highest industry exposure in the most varied sectors. Acknowledging that the participants of this course are mature adults, and not rebellious teenagers could help in getting us more freedom to organize and have a more happening campus life. Also, regular informal interactions through an open-mic evening open for all on campus would be enriching. Placements yet to happen for our batch. Our alumni are placed in reputed banks, microfinance organizations, development organizations, and cooperatives. Pretty much happy with our hostels. The variety of fields, ages, and cultures brought by our students has helped us in understanding India and its people better. More holistic understanding of the problems and outlooks of the people of our country. Our college is affordable in terms of fees, living expenses, and learning in both classroom and on the field.

Dr Kurien laid the foundation of Irma who is known as "Milkman of India", and it excels in modifying and making the best Rural Managers of India. Its primary objective is to prepare the managers who can work to uplift the marginally backwards sector of India that is India Rural poor. The college has a well-equipped infrastructure with professionally mavericks professor who teach the management in the context of rural. College is strict about its placements. Corporates are not allowed on the campus for recruitment, Agribusiness firms and other cooperates which are working for Rural people, and rural sector does participate in hiring.

Irma is spread out across a 65 acres of lush green campus with unique architecture. It has good facilities for sports and other recreational activities. The hostels have well furnished single occupancy rooms with Internet LAN connectivity and wifi. IRMA exposes its students to rural reality through their village Induction that happens before the course commences and through the Village field work segment. Students are made to work with a developmental Organisation in the Development Internship Segment and the corporate exposure is through the final off campus segment called Management Traineeship Segment.

My institute has everything that an MBA institute has. Apart from management, what my institute focuses on is development. This institute produces rural managers. IRMA was established by Dr. Verghese Kurien, the man behind AMUL, the milkman of India. My institute provides participants with three internships which gives us the opportunity to explore both for-profit and not for profit organization, i.e., Cooperatives and Corporates. Life at IRMA is one of its kind, it is filled with colors of different cultures. We celebrate every festival with the same level of energy and make each day count at the campus. Hostel blocks are good, rooms are spacious and we are provided with furniture as well. Graffiti should be allowed in hostel blocks

Exploring rural realities is the new learning

Posted on 27 Aug' 16 by Khushboo Asawa
Batch of Jan. 1, 2017 | PGDM Rural Management
Our college has an academic block, 13 hostel blocks, a cooperative mess, a library, staff quarters, ETDC, auditorium and students activity center. Our college has AMUL chimes which are its distinguishing factor. Apart from three rigorous internships provided by our institute which gives us exposure to both for-profit and not for profit organization, live projects can be included in the classroom study to give a better exposure to industries. The College life can be made more happening by conducting several competitions, organizing cultural events on a large scale. Still, one can see a great example of unity in diversity in IRMA. For placements, both development and management related jobs are offered, but, organizations mainly focus on jobs related to marketing and finance sector. It would be better that organizations offering jobs related to HR and operations also come. The College professors are experts in their domain. they indulge in good class discussions and share experiences of their own too. this enhances the learning. In terms of money and in terms of learning, my institute is affordable. the return on investment is immense.

The institute provides the required resources in library, apt exposure to rural India, in first internship, to development sector in second internship and to corporate sector in third internship. Such rigorous out of campus schedule although gives one superb exposure but makes her/him interact less with the other batch in campus. The college life is awesome and free with considerable norms. Hostels provide a decent lace to stay and conductive environment to study. The institute has student from 25 plus state with two candidates from abroad too.

THE TRUE JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY

Batch of Jan. 1, 2017 | PGDM Rural Management
IRMA was established with a vision to prepare competent managers who would not shirk from working for the marginalized in the developing countries. After 38 years of its existence, it is safe to say that the institute has truly lived up to what it was established for. The stories of people who come in without really knowing what they want and at the end of two years realize that they want to dedicate themselves to the cause of development and apply their knowledge of marketing, finance, HR, operations, R&D to the sector which needs it the most. IRMA takes one through a journey of discovery and one can guarantee that a person definitely comes out a better human being. And even if you change your mind midway and feel that you are not cut out for the sector, IRMA does provide entrepreneurial opportunities through its very own incubator (iSEED) and placement in the corporate sector as well. Lastly, IRMA is one of the rare examples of an institute with alumni network as good as it can get and being an IRMAN can take you a long way in life. The two years in the beautiful campus celebrating diverse diversities is an experience worth living.

IRMA is located in the small town of Anand also known as the ‘milk capital of India’. It lies off the Mumbai –Ahmedabad highway. Although it is a small town, commuting is not a problem here. The campus is big and self-sufficient. The hostels are also satisfactory, the rooms are all connected via the LAN. The library here is very good indeed and very helpful to the students here for research work too. Fees & Placements: The fee for the two-year program is 4 lakh rupees. The institute has maintained a 100% placement record. Most of the recruiters are the NGOs, Cooperatives, and many rurally based industries. Many students opt to go the jobs in bigger institutes whereas many prefer to work at the grass root level. The average salary offered to the students here is 7.7 lakhs, whereas the highest pay offered was 10.5 lakh.

IRMA was established by Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution. IRMA's mission is to promote sustainable , ecologically friendly and equitable socio-economic development of rural people by equipping passionate individuals with first rate managerial skills. Since its inception, IRMA, with its top-notch faculty and unique curriculum has produced highly efficient and competent rural managers. A perfect combination of classroom and fieldwork segments, along with two internship programs enables the participants to develop an understanding of the segment and the industry. The excellent alumni base of the institute proudly bears IRMA's flag in some of the best organisations across the world - from UNDP to India's largest FMCG - AMUL. What makes IRMA even more unique is the culture and life at this beautiful green campus. The serene and peaceful campus, ironically never seems to be silent. Participants from around 23 different states and overseas candidates represent many diverse colours painted on the same canvas. All festivals are celebrated with the same enthuse and spirit of IRMA. The infrastructure is at par with any leading management institute. The differentiating factor with any other institute is the abundance of greenery in the campus. Institute has a record of cent percent placements and offers the participants to venture into both, development and corporate sectors. IRMA in line with its mission and vision supports financially weak participants through bridge funds and scholarships. To sum it up, all that one would say about this institute is that IRMA is one of a unique institutes with a noble mission being pursued by handpicked faculties and participants.

Best place to practise rural management across the industry

IRMA is a place where you don't just learn rural management. It's a platform where you practise rural management. With 3 internships and 5 semesters of education spread across the programme you get an opportunity at both theory and exposure. IRMA cannot be compared with just another b school in the industry as its approach is specific and apt. When you are from IRMA , the industry always has something to offer you.
