"Well, ISB&M kolkata, if you would ""Google"" search it out, certain college ratings will showcase it amongst the top private management colleges in Kolkata and i wouldn't call them to be completely inappropriate ( given the poor state of management education available in the city of JOY). ISB&M kolkata has the distinction of providing niche courses at all its campuses located across the country and this is where idiotic students like me fell trap to a well woven plot set up by at least the Kolkata campus people. I had been a commerce grad right from my class ninth, but i also seemed to have an inclination towards freelance journalism and this is the reason that I wanted to enroll myself into a course which would take care of my commerce background as well as suffice my interest for journalism (although i never wanted to take it up as my profession but just wanted to be aware of basic journalism fundamentals so that i could carry on my own freelance work as a hobby) . So keeping all these technicalities in my mind I took admission into a course termed as ""BBA + Media"" at the Kolkata campus of ISB&M Kolkata, although i had made it into Whistling Woods International, Mumbai as well as the Pune campus of ISB&M but i wanted to stick to Kolkata because the cost of living was less and that would in turn result in curbing my overall education cost ( I had planned of curbing up on my education cost during my graduation days because my main aim was to do an MBA from one of the better colleges of India, which would obviously cost a lot then), and with all these predicaments in my mind I stepped into an institute which killed a very important year of my life. When i was about to enroll myself into the college, I had heard speculations from people that the course was carried on in a regular mode but the certificate awarded is that of a distance education. I though of taking a step further and clarifying my doubts from the college authorities itself and each time I asked them about the same they did assure me ( although by word of mouth, I don't have any written proof) that it was not a distance education course and to further clarify my doubts i asked the college authorities to provide me with the name and number of a few senior students of the college and the concerned authorities even provided me with the name and number of two senior students of the college, and when i had put forward the same query in front of them even, they also gave me the same reply (even if you call them and ask them about the same today , they would again give the same reply, ironical puppets of the college) but closing down on the reality ISB&M Kolkata ( I am specifying the name of the city each time because i am not aware of the other campuses, although i have heard that the Pune campus is pretty good and also provides a legitimate regular degree) provides a UGC-AICTE-DEC degree under SHIATS deemed university ( for all those who are not aware of what DEC means as I was also not aware of the same and assumed it to be another education credential like UGC or AICTE, DEC means Distance Education Council) , although they had mentioned about it pretty clearly in the prospectus in the same jargon as it was used by me, but yet I wouldn't call them to be complete frauds because they actually played the game smart enough to be-fool me. So here i was paying around 3.50 lakhs as my tuition fees for 3 years for a distance education degree, if this wasn't enough my college campus was the next big thing on Earth ( satirical) , my entire college campus was a 5 BHK flat with a long and spacious balcony and a pretty decent sized staff room , a canteen smaller than the lavatories of the Indian Railways and a washroom which was owned by the building authorities in which we were located. Although the locality in which the college was based was pretty huge, but we had no designated campus for us, so on a obvious note there wasn't any provision for any kind of playing zone for us and the only thing that we had for recreation was a staircase. If i would take the faculty into consideration, it was on a serious note pretty good, and they were not just qualified but they were actually pretty good professors but as the study material was send by the university and it was structured according to the Distance education standards , the overall learning experience was always missing somewhere down the lane. Although the college did not have many permanent faculty members but the scene for media education was even more pathetic because the college even couldn't arrange for visiting media faculty and it was due to this attitude of the college that I seemed to loose all my interest in the field which was once a driving force for me to join this college. "" Placements "", well although half of the BBA population end up doing there MBA first and then get into a job, but on a general note I would claim that i don't think the placement scenario is as pathetic as the other aspects of the college. I had myself bagged my first paid internship as an HR intern in the very first year itself , but the flip side of the story is that no one else in my enter batch could gain an internship, which is again a proof of the fact that the quality of people wasn't that great. Hence, i would overall state the fact that for me it wasn't an expenditure worth doing. Be the decision maker of your own future and take your own stand."
