Honestly speaking, the infrastructure at MEC Bikaner is a total mixed bag. On one hand, the campus is absolutely massive like 130+ acres right on the highway—so you get plenty of open space and a really big library that’s actually a great, quiet spot to study during exams. But on the practical side, it leaves a lot to be desired; the classrooms don't have AC, which makes the Bikaner summer heat completely brutal to sit through, and the Wi-Fi speed drops heavily whenever the campus gets crowded. Plus, while the computer labs are decent, a lot of the machinery in the mechanical and civil labs feels outdated or poorly maintained, and the sports grounds are mostly overgrown. It has the physical space to be an amazing campus, but the lack of regular upgrades and maintenance makes it feel a bit neglected.

When it comes to academics at MEC Bikaner, I would say it is pretty average and mostly depends on your own hard work. Some of the faculty members are really good and they actually care about teaching, specially the senior professors who has a lot of experience and are always ready to clear your doubts after class. But then there are many junior teachers or guests lecturers who just reads from the PPT slides and don't explain the core concepts properly, which makes the lectures very boring.

Placements at MEC Bikaner is honestly a major struggle and you should not come here expecting big MNCs to line up for campus drives. The placement cell tries to bring in some local companies and startups, but the packages they offer are very low, mostly around 2 to 3.5 LPA, and a lot of them are for sales or customer support roles rather than core engineering profiles. If you are from CS or IT branch you still have a slight chance to get placed in mass recruiters like TCS or Infosys if they do an off-campus or pooled drive nearby, but for mechanical, electrical and civil students, the core placement scene is almost non-existent. Most of my seniors had to look for jobs off-campus on LinkedIn or prepare for government exams because the college campus placements just wasn't enough. Basically if you want a good high paying IT job, you have to build your coding skills completely on your own through online platforms, because the college placement cell won't be able to do much for you except sending links for open pool drives.

If you talk about value for money, I think MEC Bikaner is just okay-okay, not too great but not a total waste either. The main reason is that the yearly fee is around 75k to 87k, which is quite low compared to big private colleges in Jaipur or other cities, so it doesn't put too much pressure on your parents pocket. If you just want a BTech degree without spending a huge amount of money, then it fits the budget nicely. But here is the real catch, you get what you pay for. Even though the tuition fee is cheap, the return on investment (ROI) is very low because the placements are totally missing. If you spend 3 to 4 lakhs overall for 4 years but end up getting a job of only 2 or 3 LPA from campus, or even worse you have to sit unemployed and hunt jobs off-campus, then that money also feels wasted. Plus the extra expenses for hostel and canteen food adds up, and the facilities you get in return like outdated labs and no AC in classrooms makes you feel that they should be charging even lesser. Basically, it’s only value for money if you are planning to do self-study from day one or preparing for government exams, but if you expect good campus placement and top class facilities for the money you pay, you will be disappointed.

If you are expecting a campus life like what they show in Bollywood movies or web series, then please don't keep high hopes from MEC Bikaner. The daily life here is very basic and disciplined rather than being fun or happening. Since the college is located quite far outside the main city on the Jaipur highway, you are basically stuck inside the campus with not many places to hang out nearby. The main highlights of the year are the annual function, freshman party, and the sports week. When these events happen the atmosphere gets quite energetic, specially during the DJ night and traditional day celebrations which everyone waits for the whole year. But apart from these few days, the campus feels very quiet and dead for the rest of the semesters. There are hardly any big technical fests or regular club activities happening to keep you engaged.

Overall, MEC Bikaner is pretty much a mixed bag that completely depends on how much effort you are willing to put in yourself. The campus is absolutely massive with a great library and the fees won't burn a hole in your parents pocket, but the actual facilities like outdated labs, no classroom ACs in the crazy Bikaner summer, and a pretty dead campus life leaves a lot to be desired.
