The program is designed to support India’s vision of becoming a global semiconductor hub through the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and the Make in India initiative.
It offers a 4-year comprehensive program structured according to the latest National Education Policy (NEP), blending foundational theory with hands-on training in VLSI design.
The curriculum of the program includes real-world exposure through mandatory internships, industry projects, and certification programs in collaboration with the semiconductor and EDA tool industries.
The program provides an in-depth understanding of CMOS, FinFET, and emerging device technologies, aligning with cutting-edge R&D and fabrication trends.
The department equips students with industry-standard tools (such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Xilinx), preparing them for high-demand roles in the semiconductor, electronics, and embedded systems sectors.
The program is supported by incubation and entrepreneurship opportunities to build indigenous chip design and ESDM solutions.

Eligibility Criteria

Requirements for joining B.E Program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
If you have ever fiddled around with a mobile or a computer, trying to fix something gone wrong, then ECE is right for you. Besides this, all Indian students applying for the B.E Electronics and Communications Engineering program must fulfill the following requirements:
a) CET Quota Students:
- Must have passed the Second Year of Pre-university or 12th standard or equivalent, with English as one of the subjects
- Must have secured an aggregate of at least 45% in Math and Physics, along with Chemistry / Electronics / Computer Science.
- Must have cleared KCET.
b) Management Quota Direct Admission students:
- Must have passed the Second Year of Pre-university or 12th standard or equivalent, with English as one of the subjects and obtained an aggregate of at least 60% in Math and Physics, along with Chemistry / Electronics / Computer Science.
- Must have cleared any of the following entrance examinations: KCET, COMEDK, UGET, AMPCK, JEE.
- Must clear the interview and written test that will be conducted by the College, as mandated by the University.
c) Students in the SC/ST and CAT1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories:
- Must have secured a minimum aggregate of 40% in the qualifying examination.
- Must have cleared KCET
d) International/NRI students:
- Must have passed an exam equivalent to Second Year of Pre-university or 12th standard, with English as one of the subjects and obtained an aggregate of at least 60% in Math and Physics, along with Chemistry / Electronics / Computer Science.
- Must clear the interview and written test that will be conducted by the College, as mandated by the University.
- International / NRI students are requested to directly contact the Admission Cell at the college campus and obtain the Application Form.
Note:
A student who has passed the qualifying exam (PUC, 12th standard) from a recognized Board other than those mentioned by VTU, must obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (New Delhi). This certificate is mandatory for admission in the College.
e) B.E Lateral Entry: CET Admission Process
- Must have passed the Diploma or equivalent examination as recognized by the University, and secured not less than 45% marks in the final year examination (fifth and sixth semesters), in the relevant branch of Engineering. In the case of SC/ST and OBC students from Karnataka, the minimum marks for eligibility shall be 40%.
- Must have cleared the Entrance Test conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka (DCET – Diploma Karnataka Common Entrance Test)

Admission Details

Admission Procedure:For Indian Students:

1. Undergraduate Engineering Programmes

Admission to Undergraduate Engineering programmes may be obtained through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) examination and selection process, or through the Management Admission process.

Eligibility Criteria: CET Admission Process

Student should have passed II PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent examination, with English as one of the languages, and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks aggregate in Physics and Mathematics, along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science. In case of SC/ST and OBC (Cat-1,2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B category) students from Karnataka, the minimum marks for eligibility shall be 40%.
Student should have cleared the entrance test conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka – KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)

Eligibility Criteria: Management Admission Process

Student should have passed II PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent examination, with English as one of the Languages, and obtained a minimum of 60% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics, along with Chemistry / Bio- Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science.
Student should have cleared any one of the Entrance Tests conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka or Govt. of India (KCET, COMEDK, AMPCK, JEE)
- Karnataka Common Entrance Test
- Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority Examination
- All India Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE)
- Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK)
