Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Parner Admission Process

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering (RGCOE), Parner, is among the newly constituted educational institutions that has provided all engineering programs at undergraduate and diploma levels. The admission process is very rigidly framed mainly around the score obtained in state-level and national-level entrance examination. The institution is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University and has approval from the AICTE. The admission process for Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering generally runs parallel to the state academic calendar in Maharashtra; it usually starts sometime in the months after the announcement of entrance examination results. Prospective students for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programs could present either their score of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) or that of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main).

This dual acceptance is meant to bring flexibility for the state-level and national-level aspirants. The eligibility for admission to the BE program calls for successful completion of 10+ 2 (Higher Secondary) education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the subjects in core group.  MHT CET is usually conducted every year between April and May. JEE Main is conducted a few times a year, with sessions usually in January and then in April. Prospective admission seekers should check the official websites of these examinations for exact dates and schedule their preparation accordingly.

Application Process

The various steps involved in the application process offered at Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Parner are:

1. Entrance Exam: Candidate will have to attempt any of the two prescribed entrance exams - MHT CET or JEE Main.

For MHT CET: Register and apply at the official MHT CET website by paying an application fee and then appearing for the examination.

For JEE Main: Register through the National Testing Agency (NTA) website by filling out the form and paying the necessary fee before attending the exam.

2. Declaration of Result: Wait for the announcements of the results of MHT CET or JEE Main.

3. CAP (Centralized Admission Process):

  • Registration as a candidate for Maharashtra State CAP in its official website.
  • Fill up the option form indicating RGCOE and courses of preference.
  • Attach all necessary documents including:
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • MHT CET or JEE Main score card
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Other mentioned certificates as per admission authority directions

4. Merit List: The merit lists will be prepared by the state admission authority according to entrance exam scores and the comprehensive parameters.

5. Seat Allotment: If allotted a seat at RGCOE, accept the allotment within the given timeframe.

6. Verify Documents: Get to RGCOE for verification of documents and confirmation of admission.

7. Fee Payment: The fees should be paid as required for the entire admission process. The total fees for BE programs at RGCOE is approximately Rs. 260,000 for the entire course duration.

8. Final Admission: Complete any remaining formalities at the college level to finalize your admission.

Degree wise Admission Process

Bachelor of Technology/Engineering: RGCOE offers four undergraduate programs in Engineering leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering. These Bachelor programs are: Mechanical Engineering; Computer Engineering; Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering; and Electrical Engineering. The intake capacity for each program is listed below:

  1. BE Mechanical Engineering: 120 seats
  2. BE Computer Engineering: 120 seats
  3. BE Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: 60 seats
  4. BE Electrical Engineering: 60 seats

The admission procedure for any BE programs is determined from the score obtained by an eligible candidate either at MHT CET or JEE Main. After the entrance examination results are announced candidates are required to undergo a common admission process conducted by the state government.

Diploma: RGCOE also offers two Diploma programs:

  1. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: 60 seats
  2. Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: 60 seats.

Although no detailed information is available regarding the methods or processes for admission into the diploma programs, these processes would essentially follow the same pattern as that adopted by the Maharashtra Government for admission into the polytechnic courses.
