Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering is four years (8 Semester) full-time undergraduate engineering program affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram and approved by AICTE.
The Department has full-fledged laboratories to train the undergraduate and research students from the very basics to modern trends in the field of Electronics and Communication. Students utilize the modern lab equipment to carry out design and testing of various projects. The department library has reference books and magazines. Online journals and e-books are accessible to the students through the intranet. There is a full-fledged computer center at the department with sufficient computing facility having broadband internet connectivity.
The department periodically organizes seminars and workshops to train faculty and students on emerging research areas and trends in the area of Electronics Engineering. Faculty from premier institutions are invited to the department for lectures under visiting faculty scheme. Various academic activities take place in the department with the funding of TEQIP Phase II. Apart from faculty development programmes, TEQIP supports Equity Assurance Programme (EAP) which includes remedial classes and scholarship for the students. Industry-Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) of TEQIP scheme regularly conducts talks by Industry experts in the Department. The Electronics Association is very active in organizing and conducting technical festivals and project exhibitions. Students are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate technical/cultural competitions organized by other institutions.
The selection is based on KEAM entrance exam.
A- Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission. However, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges/Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
B- Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or examinations recognised as equivalent thereto, with 50 % marks in Mathematics/Biology separately, and 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology put together are eligible for admission to the seats reserved for Dairy Farm Instructors of Dairy Development Department for B.Tech. (Dairy Technology). However, the candidates admitted to the course have to take a make-up course in Basic Mathematics (2+0) credits or Applied Biology (1+1) credit as the case may be.
