Vandayar Engineering College, Thanjavur Admission Process

Vandayar Engineering College (VEC) is one among the eminent engineering colleges offering bachelors and masters degrees in engineering. The admission process to all these courses is done purely according to the merit-based admission requirements. The college is approved by AICTE with a large affiliation from Anna University, Chennai.

The general admission procedure follows Anna University academic calendars. Undergraduate admissions usually begin right after the announcement of the 12th standard results, usually in May-June. Admission for postgraduates is variable but is usually held in the latter half of the year.

For the undergraduate programs, candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent education with compulsory Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects. Admission is done through two means, Government quota for 65% of the seats through single-window counseling done by the Tamil Nadu Government through the best of thirteen marks and the remaining 35% reserved for Management Quota.

Application Modes

Undergraduate - B.E. (65% Government Quota):

  • With the requisite subjects and marks, 10+2 should have been passed.

  • Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling.

  • Fill out the TNEA online application form.

  • Upload relevant documents such as 10th and 12th mark sheets, community certificate (if applicable), and other certificates.

  • Application fees should be paid.

  • Reach the counselling event as per the schedule.

  • Attend VEC for document verification and admission confirmation if a seat is allotted there.

For B.E. Programs (35% Management Quota):

  • Obtain management quota applications from the College Admission Office.

  • Fill out the form and submit it along with the required documents.

  • Pay the application fee.

  • Any interviews or counseling sessions required; the college shall notify.

  • If chosen, the admission is completed by paying the required fees and submitting the original documents.

For Admission to the Postgraduate Programs (MCA, MBA, M.E.):

  • Qualify in the relevant entrance examination (most likely TANCET).

  • Get application details from the college admission office.

  • Carry out the application as instructed (online/offline).

  • Submit all necessary documents, graduation mark sheets and entrance exam score cards.

  • Pay the application fees.

  • An interview or counseling may be required; if so, attend.

  • Acceptance shall be confirmed with the payment of funds and submission of documents in cases where candidates are selected.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.E. Programs:
Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission is through:

  • 65 percent of seats through Tamil Nadu Government single-window counseling based on the 12th standard marks

  • 35 percent of seats are through Management Quota
    Eligibility: Completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

M.C.A Program:
This MCA program has an intake of sixty. Admission usually requires a relevant qualification at undergraduate level;

M.B.A Program:
This MBA course only takes in thirty students. The eligibility criteria are based on graduation marks and one or more entrance test scores such as TANCET.

M.E. Programs:
M.E. specializations are VLSI Design, Computer Science and Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. Admission is mostly based on TANCET scores.

  • Transfer Certificate

  • Community Certificate (if applicable)

  • Entrance Exam score card (wherever applicable)

  • Graduation mark sheets (for postgraduate programs)

  • Passport-sized photos

  • All other certificates as put forth by the College
