It depends on what stream you want to get into.

If you want CSE,you are eligible for the 3rd category.

If you want ECE, you are eligible for the 2nd or 3rd category depends on the avilability of seats at the time of counselling.

If you want eee,there are 190 seats available at the first category,,so your chances of getting into the first category are high.

If you want civil,there are 57 seats avilable at the first category,so you can get into this or if not get into the 2nd category depending upon the availability during counselling.

The choice is yours to make because you are eligible for all the course with this rank.Difference lies in the category.So it is your decision to make based on the category and your interests.

there are 32 seats available for ecm at the 2nd category of vit,chennai.Your chances of getting into this category are slightly low.But you sure are eligible to get into the 3rd category.

Based on the counselling status,there are no seats available at the first category at vellore campus nor at chennai campus. 

ECE:

The first category vellore seats are over.However there are 221 seats available at vit chennai campus.So based on the trend you can get a seat at vit chennai.

You are definitely eligible for all the 2nd category seats whether its vellore or chennai for both cse and ece.

The closing rank for CSE at VIT chennai is around 14k so the chances are less for you to get a seat there.You have a good rank in SRMJEE so you may opt SRM main campus itself.CSE is the most opted branch in that campus and also the infrastructure, facilities and placements are very good.Comparing with SRM main campus, the fees is lower in VIT Chennai but the ratings and reviews are better for SRM main campus(Kattankulathur).

Thapar Institute Pros-

1. The infrastructure is really good. We get Wifi at around 4Mbps, Sports facilities are good, and the accomodation is really good.
2. There are a lot of a research opportunitites that you can pursue without a lot of questions.
3. The college is only 5 days a week
4. Patiala is a nice city. It has all the basic amenities but is not fancy as fuck.
5. A lot of cultural events and socities you can be a part of.
6. The campus is really good.
7. The placements are really good. The highest package was 28.5 Lpa.

Based on the usual trend Cse at vit vellore closes by a rank of 5500 and at chennai it closes by 11k at the maximum.So your chances are minimal.However you are eligible for the other branches like Bioinformatics,ECE,EEE,Biotech  ,Civil and Chemical engineering .

You can always opt for migrating to CSE once you choose these courses.So it is your decision to make :)

I am sorry to inform you that you are not eligible for a cse seat at vit chennai or vellore.This is based on the usual trend.All the seats for cse gets filled up by a rank of 20k at the maximum.

However you are eligible for any other branch like ECE,It,etc

You  always have the option of migrating to CSE at the first year.It is your decision to make now that you know what you are eligible at and what you are not.Choose wisely :)

Based on the usual trend,With your rank you can easily get a seat ECE.But i am sorry to inform you that you are not eligible for cse as seats for cse gets over within a rank of 18k-20k;

ECE is very easy for you to get and it has a lot of scope as well.A lot of operation and coding subjects are there in ECE.So you can always switch to coding while studying at ECE.

There is another option of migration to CSE if you are very interested in CSE.:)

going by the usual trend with your rank,You can easily get a seat at Vit chennai.

The branches you are eligible are Ece,EEE,Civil and mechanical.Cse seats gets over very fast by 15k-17k.

Now it depends on your interest to choose the stream among the  four branches.Choose wisely and analyse on your likes and dislikes.Do not choose any stream based on the trend.Think of what career you want and choose accordingly :)
