Hello Renu,

IITs are well established and top universities in India. IIST was established recently so it doesn't have the advantage of time.

IIST has the best resources to teach a student and can develop their character to several folds. However due to the recent establishment of university, the placement record is not well when compared to the IITs.

So when comparing in resources and infrastructure, both are outstanding. However IIST lacks behind IITs in terms of placements.

IIST is itself an abbreviation for Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. You should have asked the expansion of IIST, which you have already tagged.

It is Located at  Valiamala, Nedumangad Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

I hope this help

Hello Priyom,

The choice between the two wholly depends on your interest in the specific field. If you are interested in space stuffs then IIST will be far better than any other college as it will give you a lot of exposure to ISRO but if you are interested in space and galaxies and also you are a bit of technology oriented person then you must go for IIT as it will give you a lot of exposure in technical field.

Hope it helps.

Good Luck!
