NIT Calicut has great infrastructure. It constantly conducts workshops and seminars to give exposure to the student about the industry. Most memorable experience is about hostel life, still misses late night Maggie and night canteen. Friends you made their lasts for the lifetime.

Batch of 2016 | B.Tech Production Engineering
Some seniors got really good packages of around 20 lakh/annum. 60-70% of students got placed. The highest package was around 21 lakhs, the lowest was around 3 lakhs and the average was 6-7 lakhs. Companies like TCS, Schneider, Tata etc. come for placements. Roles like working under superior engineers and managing roles were given. Only a few students got internship from college, around only 10-15%. The highest stipend was 5 lakhs, the lowest was around 1 lakh and average was 1.5 lakhs. The faculty members teach well but they are not supportive. Most of them don't support extra-curricular activities and sometimes threaten to fail in exams. There is a need of well-qualified professors as most of the faculty members here are ad-hoc. The student to faculty ratio is 20:1. No industry exposure is provided. The course curriculum is very useful.

Is Nitc the best college for engineering in Kerala?

Batch of 2018 | B.Tech Chemical Engineering
Kerala , also known as the God's own country has undoubtedly the best scenic views. Nitc is one of the most beautiful campuses you'll find in India! Let me start off with the placements first since, any university is judged based on its placement. Cse has the maximum placement percentage compared to any other branch. If you have a cgpa above 6.5 with basic aptitude skills then you are placed for sure. Other branches suffer due to lack of core companies visiting the campus. The main reason being lack of industries in Kerala and less connectivity to calicut from other places. Even though calicut has an international airport , flights which fly between gulf countries are more than those flying to other states in India. This forces the HR people of various companies to reach calicut via road which is not preferred. Now coming to infrastructure, they have a supercomputer of their own! The labs and workshops are fully equipped and are updated from time to time. Coming to the faculty, new departments such as chemical , biotechnology, lack in permanent faculty and most of the classes are conducted by the adhoc faculty who have less experience and knowledge.Hostels are well furnished and provided with all the basic eminities.College life is full of fun and excitement it gives you a platform to prove your talents and intellect. If you want to become a dancer you'll have them training you . If you want to become a musician you'll have them training you . A photographer? Sure ! We have that too and many more than your imagination can take you . So winding yup, you can watch YouTube videos without buffering and you have well maintained sport field's which are the main supplements of good life !

A very bad college for girl students... Restrictions at every corner... Boys have no such problems... Infrastructure should be improved considering it is a college of national importance... Very few permanent faculties... Mostly Ad-hocs take classes... If at all some improvement were to happen, it occurs only 2 weeks before accreditation... Definitely need to improve.. Poor industry exposure... However college life is amazing... A lot of room to improve... Definitely met a lot of wonderful faculties who motivated me and my friends...

High standard engineering collage

Batch of 2019 | B.Tech Civil Engineering
National institute of technology is the best technical collage in Kerala. The infrastructure is of high standards and have adequate buildings for each and every department. The labs are of high standards and the availability of equipment is also good. The faculty are highly experienced and put up good teaching performance. Many good companies come for campus placement with very good packages especially in computer science. The institute for provides good hostel facilities. The hostels are mainly allotted as per year wise All hostels got LAN facilities and internet service. The sex ratio is good when comparing to engineering collages where the number of boys are little more than girls. The collage promotes not only academic activities but also co curricular activities there are many active clubs existing in collage promoting these activities. The collage is very much active in field of sports , games and athletics . professional coaches high standard ground are available.

The college life is entirely different to what we had in our schools. It compromises different clubs where the students can show their talents other than studies and also an NSS cell to make everyone realize the importance of service. The infrastructure is old but good and natural with a lot of trees covering the entire campus.Placements vary according to the various batches among which Computer science holds the top place. There are internships and pre-placement offers being offered for the 3rd year students. The faculty is always approachable and talented in their own field.

NITC is located at one of the most beautiful places in our country.the college has a well established background.the infrastructure here is not so good it seems like there is no renovation or improvement of buildings since the establishment . Coming to the faculty professors here are well talented and almost everyone has a doctorate from a reputed college.placements here are not so good as the college is located in a remote location.so if you are genuinely interested to learn subject rather than placements NITC is a good option.

I feel that life at nit is what college life should be like. I mean sure maybe the facilities are not up to the mark or maybe the faculty are a little cranky but that is not a deal breaker especially when u consider the freedom u have for those 4 years. And that is what college life is all about in my opinion. And a note about the facilities- there actually are a lot of facilities at the college it's just that they are really well-hidden :P or maybe it's just that most of the students are really not interested... Anyway, it's the student who decides what they make of their college life. They can choose to study hard and get a placement or go for higher studies or they can chill out and still get placed in some IT company usually....

I am currently in the first year..and to be honest when they assigned hostel the first day,I was a not disappointed with its condition. No WiFi for the first year!! Being from the north I thought it will be difficult to merge with the local students..but all my queries came to vault..they are genuinely good students and I have made many friends thanks to no WiFi ,otherwise would have been in a room only ! Infrastructure is decent if not the best ! The campus is pretty big with lots of greenery .By lots, I do mean lots !! Seniors are quite friendly, but they do those senior junior things which are fun actually !! Wardens are very strict on us first-year students and doesn't easily allow us to go anywhere ! Though still in my early days at this college,I feel good ! Faculties and labs are up to the mark. Libraries are awesome.Digital library is a big relief if we miss any lecture !There are gymnasium, swimming pool, and a big ground..physical education is compulsory subject here !! I'm just 1.5 months old here but as I said things are going awesome and I m pretty sure I am going to have one hell of an experience in coming years ! Looking forward to it !!!! And by the way,2 girls among 143 boys in mechanical engineering !! Pretty sad for me,isn't it.

Seventh Circle of Misery

Posted on 31 Aug' 16 by Raj Stratford
Batch of 2015 | B.Arch
While equipped with excellent structures and an intelligent student community, internal politics within the faculty tended to escalate to a point where it affected the lives of the students. Sometimes, it didn't even need to get to that level. Capricious professors are a terrible curse. The ladies hostel was run by what seemed like right wing fanatics but they eased up around the last year. The Campus is beautiful.

1. Good infrastructure which is continuously improving. 2. Every year, around 15% of the companies participating in the recruitment process are first-time visitors to the campus. 3. Great cultural atmosphere and student community. 4. Received offer from Reliance Industries limited through campus.

College is good. But mtech is research oriented course and thus Nitc management is forcing students to sit in class by 80% mandatory attendance. Mtech placements are not satisfactory.. College will not allow every one to do internship in 2nd year because they need assistants for labs

I am a 1st-year BTech student of NIT Calicut.at first, when I got admission I never thought that I would love this college. I spent ma 14years of school life in the same school so every time I think about that school I missed so badly, the campus, the teachers, friends. But later I realized that am a part of NIT, now I feel so happy to be here. The college conducts lot of activities where first years are permitted to join the. The main celebration of this college is the tech fest and arts called "THATVA" and RAAGAM. The college is well known for its academic excellence other achievements. The college provides excellent placement training which provides the students to grab a job.

College life is exposure to the outer world. It helped me in developing a lot of ideas for dealing with real world situations. Infrastructure is above average and faculty is good. More of the practical learning experience is gained from senior students. There are technical events which provide a great place for learning and it has enhanced my management skills.

Rather being in educational institutions, one can feel the romance of falling with machines in case of ME as with me. Technical fests are the best ones not as good as IITs. But cultural fests are most good ones. So, I would suggest my college to anyone.

First of all this is an NIT (a first tier institute and is an institute of national importance). This college houses competitive cross-section of approx. 5000 students.50% of the students here are from Kerala due to state quota of NIT's. Students have a very healthy atmosphere to learn and interact here. Seniors are supportive but yes there is a little bit ragging too but not so harsh just you have to do some work for them. The average package offered is around Rs 9 lakhs per annum and the highest package is about Rs. 27 Lakhs per annum for my branch CSE. Rest all branches have somewhat less placements than CSE. Recruiters who visited the campus last year include, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Oracle, BPCL, Reliance, TATA, Bajaj, Dell, Samsung, E-bay etc. Overall this is a good college but its location makes it somewhat difficult for companies to visit here.

Among Best College in India

College life is excellent and Nit, Calicut is now among top three nits of India. Placements are far better than any other nits or even new iits. Infrastructure is very good and many facilities are provided to the students. Even there is too much exposure to students to participate in many things. The faculty is normal just but more talented faculty can be recruited. Also about 180 companies visited the campus so it's too good for placement.

The college is one of the best for engineering in India with extremely knowledgeable faculties. Though academic life is strict with 80% attendance compulsion and the course but if you are interested in studying perfect place for you. Placements are also good with in my placement year we had good average package for all branches with good lot of students getting placed. In recent times infrastructure has developed well with new hostels, new departments and library. Overall one of the best places for undergrad education.

NIT Calicut is one of the top 5 NITs in the country. The infrastructure is good with good quality labs and ample of machines in the workshop. Classes are interactive and professors are very helpful.
