Next comes the eligibility of the scientist category, you need to successfully accomplish either PhD or M.Tech degree from a recognised institution and you can join in the scientist category. I am a student studying in 12th class in the academic year 2021-22, I am not prepared for jee main and advanced this year,I want admission in IIST so I have doubt that if I give both jee main and jee advanced directly in 2023 without appearing in 2022 so can I will be eligible for admission in IIST?

As per the rules of JEE MAINS & ADVANCED if you want to don't appear for the JEE MAINS & ADVANCED 2022 then also you are eligible for the JEE MAINS & ADVANCED 2023 but there is a catch.

JEE MAINS have maximum of 3 attempts i.e., the first attempt is considered to be the year you are in 10+2, the other 2 attempts are in the post 10+2 consecutive years. JEE ADVANCED have maximum of 2 attempts i.e., the first is considered to the year of 10+2 & the other 1 year post 10+2.

So even if you don't sit for the JEE MAINS & ADVANCED keep in mind that for JEE MAINS you will have 1 attempt left after JEE MAINS 2023 & for JEE ADVANCED it would be your final attempt.

All the best:)

if I score less marks or I failed in pre boards in one subject in class 12 ,so will it effect my eligibility criteria for jee mains and jee advanced for admission in IIST?

Hi

Your marks in Preboard doesn't matter at all. As you are awarded certificate /marksheet for your board examination only and not pre board.

So,

It doesn't matter whether you get low marks in pre board or even fail in it, it's not going to affect your eligibility for jee advanced or   IIST  or anything else.

But still prepare well for pre boards so that eventually you can perform well in your  boards .

To help you further,

JEE  advanced eligibility criteria is given below :-

---------------------) Qualification required :- One needs to pass 10+2/ or equivalent with the following 5 subjects:-

  • Physics

  • Chemistry

  • Mathematics

  • A language

  • Any subject other than listed above

Those appearing for 10+2/equivalent are also eligible.

---------------------) Minimum marks in 12th /equivalent :-  you need to pass your class 12th with at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination.

††† IMPORTANT NOTE :- Considering pandemic in order to give relaxation. The minimum percentage barrier of 75 % - 65% in 12th board examination has been lifted off for jee advanced 2022. It means all you need to be eligible for jee advanced is to have at least passed 12th .

----------------------) 12th /equivalent passing year :-  You can give JEE advanced examination for the maximum of consecutive 2 years starting from the year of appearing for your 12th examination i. e to be eligible for JEE advanced 2022 your 12th board examination appearing year should be either 2022 or 2021

††† IMPORTANT NOTE:-

Considering pandemic, there's one time measure for students who had passed 12th in 2021 & 2020.

  • For 2021 passed :- Those 2021 passed students who had qualified jee main 2021 and had registered for jee advanced 2021 but couldn't appear in the examination are directly eligible for jee advanced 2022 without appearing in jee main 2022.

  • For 2020 passed :- 2020 12th passed students are also eligible for  jee advanced 2022 after qualifying jee main 2022 provided they have appeared in only one of 2020 or 2021 jee advanced or none of them.

Details about it is available at:- https://news.careers360.com/jee-advanced-2022-extra-attempt-iit-entrance-exam-candidates-who-missed-in-2020-2021-jeeadv-ac-in

-----------------------) There is upper age limit, according to which to be eligible for jee advanced 2022, you should be born on or after 1st October 1997. There is 5 years of age relaxation for SC, ST and PwD so candidates of SC/ST /PWD needs to be  born on or after October 1, 1992.

-----------------------) you must qualify JEE main  2022 to be eligible for jee advanced 2022.
