NIT trichy is better than IIST. You know last year i prefer NIT JSR than IIEST because i know after 4 year degree of NIT will be more valuable.

For now concentrate on JEE itself… Because the admission to IIST is based on JEE Mains and Advanced itself. And see to it that you get appropriate percentage in class 12th which will ensure your eligibility for admission.

Don't lose hope if you didn't get college in the 1st round.

you have chances to get a seat in further rounds.so wait for other rounds and fill it.

B.tech: Till 2016 all btech student having good CGPA were absorbed by ISRO but from this year(2017) onwards ISRO might come for campus placement but its not sure. So we are approaching companies for placements and succeeding also but it will take some time to achieve 100% placement as before.

M.Tech and Phd: ISRO never came for placement. Some companies visits IIST but mostly students search for suitable company by themselves. Now more companies are coming as B.Tech students are participating too and also offering good package of around 8lpa. But including on-campus and off-campus still placements are around 60%. One more important thing is some programs are mainly toward research and its better to go for higher studies after this or join institute like ISRO.

It is just impossible for you to get a seat at IIST since your score is only 143 marks and your score percentage is quiet low to fetch you a seat.

         Both  Indian Institute of technology and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology are most prestigious institutes of the country.

Out of these two you should go for Indian Institute of Space Science and Research for Aerospace Engineering.Faculty Members of Aerospace Engineering at IIST are graduates of reputed Institutions and have good work experience.They are supported by experienced and competent technical staff. Even Aerospace Engineering Department of IIST has set up several laboratories including instructional and research labs.
