Dont think of branch change in iits. Due to a large competition it becomes difficult to change branch. Choose your branch related to interests and not due to packages.

Should I take IIT Roorkee or IIT Hyderabad for mechanical engineering?

IIT Roorkee and Hyderabad are best colleges for Mechanical engineering alongside Kharagpur campus.

Incomparison,
Roorkee Campus offers 8.9lac as median package for Mechanical engineering and is ranked 7 in India.

Hyderabad campus offers average package of 7LPA and is rnaked 22 in Jndia.

Overall both have good facilities and faculty

Admission to IIT Hyderabad, and all other IITs is done through JoSAA counselling. The date of commencement of option registration and choice filling is 15-06-2018, upto 25-08-2018. The first round of allotment will be on 27-06-2018. plese visit these pages for more details.
