Hi Sathasivam,
Each and every branch in IITs are good thats why they are top colleges in the country. You can definitely opt for Metallurgy & Material Science in IIT Madras. If you work hard, it may fetch you a package of more than Rs.10 LPA.
Thank you and best of luck.

Hello,
Congratulations for securing a seat in JEE ADVANCED.
This is according to my opinion and experience.
First of all academics are important.I’d say all the IIT’s you mentioned are awesome. if you want order. IITM>IITKGP>IITK>IITR.
Placements-IITM>IITKGP>IITK>IITR. placements totally depend on you and what you do in institute because most of the companies visit all the IIT’s.
Brand value and alumni - IITM>IITK>IITKGP>IITR.
Scope- it totally depends on the departments in the institute.you can go in any way you want. there are many people who joined CS and ended up doing DDP in Bio-tech. IITKGP>IITM>IITK>IITR.
proximity to Metropolitan city - IITM>IITK>IITKGP>IITR.
hostel life is worst in all iits so you dont have to worry about it.
Area(acres)- IITKGP(2100)>IITK(1000)>IITM(620)>IITR(325)
Weather- IITK>IITR(cold)>IITKGP>IITM(too hot).
Ranking of 2016 - IITM>IITKGP>IITK>IITR.
overall - IITM>IITK>IITKGP>IITR.
according to me if you can take heat IITM is the best because chennai has many industries.Strict attendance makes you go to all classes.Good overall experience because of saarang, shaastra, tech clubs, cultural clubs etc. IITM also has CFI where students do all kind of stud stuff.
All the best :).
The present central Govt. is now serious of Naval vessel building at three of its centres on West & East coasts.Vizag,Kochy & Mazagon. If the present set up at the centre lasts for at least 10 years, then there will be a sea change in this sector,as India has woken up to the fact that the country needs more of naval vessels. It has to patrol near Somalian waters to prevent piracy,it has vital presence in South China Sea - as Vietnam has requested for the same.
In a year or two,it will have presence near about Chabahar harbour, coming up in Iran, not to talk of policing activities around Hambantotta & Gwader.
More will come up in the Arabian sea,as China is increasing its presence in East African countries also. India has the technology in making air craft carriers & one is on the anvil.
So all of these are in fine prints & the road map by the Defence Ministry is partly made up - I think from what we get from media.
EE/ME are two of the core engg. subjects which has an ever green field at any point of time.Bit it has to be studies at colleges which has the more standard faculties, along with labs.
The demand in NA & OE is slowly & steadily picking up in India, though it still has good demand in major yards in say Poland,South Korea,China,Australia.
We have a few players in the pvt. sector, but then they are still not a big name.Demands will certainly come up in the govt.sector. In case if by chance you don't get a placement in India, better to get experience for a few years overseas,& then come back to India.
Hi,
It depends mostly on the scope of the two courses. After having gone through all the information available on Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, what I can say is, the opportunities that are offered after the degree aren't promising enough as compared to EEE. But, there are really good opportunitites abroad so, you can complete 4 years from IIT then go abroad to do PG in the same subject.
If you are not interested in going abroad, I suggest you take up EEE because, here, there is a secure future. But, if you have an interest in the subject and are willing to abroad as well then, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering is a good option too.
hi sidesh,
