Considering you as a Other State Candidate from OBC Category, the following Cutoff OBC Ranks were required last year for securing a seat in EEE.

MNNIT Allahabad 3.7k

NIT Trichy 1.7k

NIT Calicut 3.7k

Hence, for NIT Trichy EEE, you need to target atleast a OBC Rank of 1.7-1.8k or a Corresponding CRL anywhere around 7-9k, and target securing anywhere around 60-70% of the Total Score 180-210/300.

As far as MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Calicut are concerned, you need to secure atleast OBC Rank 3.7k, and a Corresponding CRL anywhere around 17-19k, and a Target score anywhere around 160+/300.

Hence, cobsidering OBC 2k as a standard, you will need atleast a CRL of anywhere around 10k to increase your chances in securing atleast three of the above four institutes. As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that the closing ST rank for NIT Allahabad was 2668 for Electrical Engineering branch in NIT Allahabad under Home state quota for ST category. Yes, MNIT Allahabad and every college provides the option of “branch change”,  after passing first year, so that if any doubt still prevails in the mind of a student after taking admission in first year, he/she can then change his/her respective branch in second year. But, there are certain criterion which you have to be fulfilled.

1- Your CGPA must be at-least 8.5 or above in 10 scale. (This is most vital but it varies from university to university)

2- You must have no backlogs in your 1st year.

Without knowing your branch and syllabus we cannot answer this question accurately.

However, College CGPA is an internal matter and more accurate weightage of subjects can be only given by your seniors of the same branch. Securing CGPA above 9.0 requires dedication and proper study with good marks in both mid-sem and end-sem examinations.

There is no such fix criteria of CGPA. But generally you have to take CGPA above 9.0, because very few students reach upto this level. But the main thing is that, you have to became topper in 1st year exams. And only becoming topper is not sufficient alone. There must be some vacant seat in ECE branch after 1st year.
