Hello Yash,

Firstly congratulation for your JEE Main score. Secondly yes, you can get a seat in NITs or PDPU for chemical engineering easily. To get colleges like NITs,IIITs,GFTIs you need to first clear the required cutoff as per your category. Now, the JEE Main 2019 cutoff (percentile) for general category candidates was 89.75 percentiele, whereas you have got 94 percentile. So according to the rules, you are JEE Main qualified. To get admission into NITs,IIITs or GFTIs you have to go through JoSAA counselling. And if by any chance you dont get a seat through JoSAA, then you can apply for CSAB counselling through which you could get a seat in NITs,IIITs,GFTIs. CSAB counselling is for JEE Main qualified candidates and will begin after the completion of JoSAA counselling.

You can go through this link and check the details regarding JoSAA counselling : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-counselling

Also, you can visit this link and check the detailed information about CSAB counselling : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/csab

For PDPU, they have their own counselling process for admission of candidates. The 50% percent of the seats will be filled through GUJCET and 35% of the seats will be filled on the basis of JEE Main score.

You can go through this link and checkout the detailed counselling procedure for PDPU : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/pdpu-btech-counselling

Hope that you get your choice of college and branch. Good Luck !!!

Hi Pranshu!

I think PDPU is slightly better!

Let's talk about this in detail...

  • The campus grow from nothing to the lush green mighty campus that it has become
  • The sports culture, which has now become one of the pillars of the university. Its all because of the marvelous work that students are doing every year during Petro Cup. You have coaches for every sports discipline. You get a fair shot at all the open spots on the team sheet.
  • The cultural and technical events have grown in numbers and quality over the years. Through Flare and now, Tesseract. The quizzing culture and the videography, photography , street plays , all these activities have grown.
  • People , localities or non localities , they gel every well together in my opinion. Try befriending a Gujarati , they are really cool people and they have their own way of living a life.
  • Hostels , classrooms , mess , library and gardens. They are big and properly maintained. The festivals like Navratri and other local festivals are celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm.
  • Gaming culture, be it CS , DoTA or any other , people here are good at everything.
  • Teachers though not up to the standards of IIT or NIT's but they are good compared to other colleges and with other perks that come along, its a bitter sweet trade off.
  • Placements , well , they are a headache in every stream , MBA including. But , tell me one college who is not IIT, NIT, DCE,IIM, IIFT or FMS and etc. where you get those big bucks. When you compare PDPU with the colleges its competing with and being so young , it has far more pros than cons.
  • The oil and gas market is down so the companies have not been visiting but then that's the case with UPES and other colleges too.

The fees is bit on the high side and the administration can do a better job.

And yes they have SLS too. Where all the creative people gather and they keep on doing something or the other which keeps PDPU in the news.

So, in totality if you ask me on a scale of 10 , I would say PDPU is 7 on 10.

And remember , we human being have this tendency of not being satisfied with what we have. Well, don't use that judgement to make opinions about things and places.

Cheers!
I hope it helps.

Hi Garvit,

Your question seems fair, since alot of students face this problem whether which college to choose in such an important turn. See choices may vary but your requirements should always be fulfilled as a student. Like what you need is a good infrastructure with a good industrial exposure as well consistent campus placement. This is a college comparison link try it. It helped a lot of students to know which college to choose, https://www.careers360.com/compare-colleges. If you could contact any of the passed out students, nothing could be better than that.

I hope this helps you. All the best and do ask for any further queries.

Dear Aspirant,

I understand your query I'm here to help you regarding that !!

So, to be honest all the colleges which you have mentioned above are good Colleges and offers great infrastructure, placements, faculty and technical skills as well. In pandit deendayal, Computer Science is being started only 4 years ago and the first batch is yet to be passed out and hence there are no proper reviews on that, but it has developed a lot meanwhile a nd offers very good laboratories. Nirma is a well-reputed and well-known college and the faculty is very good and has good programming exposure.  Companies such as Amazon, Oracle, Intel, Samsung and many other companies have visited the college in past few years and offered very good placements with magnificent packages for the students. Also, Dhirubhai Ambani (DAIICT) id also doing good and has got great infrastructure and now all matters is where you reside and how much you can afford.

Hi yash, Considering your rank you there is a fair chance that you can get into some lower branches in both upes and PDPU. You can wait for last round to upgrade your branches as high possibilities are there. So don't missout the registration process. Do participate in the counselling. UPES also take its entrance exam it has major portion of intake so i will suggest you to give that exam too if you are here in UPES for petroleum engineering :)

hope it will help you. FOR MORE QUERY COMMENT BELOW AND UPVOTE :)

Yes you will get computer science engineering . As your score is 507 then you will definitely get good college with good branch . You will definitely get computer science engineering branch. It is one of the best branch . It depends on programming. Then don't worry you will get admission in good college with good branch .

GUJCET: PDPU has reserved 50% of the seats for the GUJCET 2019 qualified candidates, the state engineering entrance examination.

All India Seats: PDPU has reserved 35% of the seats for the JEE Main 2019 qualified candidates. The JEE Main 2019 qualified candidates will be required to register themselves for the admission in the programmes offered by the university.

NRI Seats: 15% of the seats under PDPU are reserved for the NRI candidates. The eligibility criteria, application process and fees for these applicants will be entirely different.

It all depends upon which field are you going to pursue. In all branches (Except ICT-Computer) there are high chances that you will get admission in your desired branch in PDPU. What all you need to do is never ever miss the admission form of PDPU College and you should wait for the results of even the Last round. There are also vacant round/Offline round so keep filling all form. Keep regular up to date through website and never miss an update regarding any admission procedure. I suggest and strongly recommend to be part of this University and play all admission rounds.
