As per the QS World Ranking 2027 VIT Vellore has secured a rank of 597.
Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore admissions for the academic year 2026-27 are currently open.
VIT, Vellore is a wonderful college in terms of its infrastructure. With a great campus of 372 acres, it covers almost everything and anything. Football field, cricket field, gymnasium, basketball courts and what not. WiFi network here is amazing as well. Smart classes are also present along with well maintained laboratories. Hostel is very clean and food available is hygienic.
Teachers take good care of students. Every doubt is well resolved in class or later in staff rooms. The teachers are well approachable at any time during their stay. However, the curriculum is not a well updated one, this is a problem where we don't get enough exposure.
Placement in VIT is awesome. Almost everyone gets a job by the end of the placement season and average package ranges from 4.5-6 lpa, with highest package touching to as high as 36 lpa. The college is also very supportive in terms of placement. They teach you the relevant skills before the beginning of placement season and are helpful throughout the process.
Tution fees, here in VIT varies in terms of categories. For category 1 it is 1.98 lpa while for category 2 it ranges to 3.07 lpa. There is also provision for category 3 where it shoots up to 4.1lpa. So, definitely getting here in category 1 or at most 2 may be considered. Nothing beyond that.
Campus life is not as entertaining as it seems from outside. Although, fests and all are present, there are strict rules related to interaction between girls and boys. You hardly get to enjoy your college life as most of the time you find yourself busy with projects.
VIT is an excellent college if you are looking for knowledge or decent placements. But if you also want to incorporate fun and enjoyment during your college years, try not to choose it. If technology attracts you on the other hand, you may very well go for it.
Very good infrastructure with necessary equipment to make us enjoy studying in this college. The facilities in classroom include projectors, well library equipped and many sports related activities and much more.
The quality of teaching is good which includes both theoretical and practical based. I am studying b.tech mechanical engineering. The curriculum is based on the current developments on the field and is fun.
I heard that it is good. I also heard that almost 100% of students got placements in different industries and the highest salary is around 41LPA and is a cs student. The average package is around 7LPA
The college has every facility one might need, starting from Nescafe shops to stationaries inside the campus and no overpricing. The classrooms are normal but equipped with projectors( all the classes), the labs are of quiet good build all the systems run on Linux enterprises, the WiFi is fine, at max you'll get 500kbps and it turns off at 12:30am. The rooms are kinda average, it's like more money less space and the mess' dining room is clean.
I am studying Electronics and Communications Engineering which is kinda difficult (for me atleast) even though the teachers try there best to help you with everything they can but still can be a little discriminative for North Indians at times. The curriculum is at its best I would say, they usually have guest lectures daily with people coming from reputed companies/organizations like RedHat etc.
From what I have heard, placements are depressing everywhere. And I felt the same during placements were going on in here, but the good thing is we have something like 100% placement bad hence everyone gets into a job. And the highest salary package was above 90lakhs this time. And the average salary combining all the branches were around 15-20 lakhs.
Well well this is a very problematic question for me, the problem with VIT is that they are gonna impose a fine on anything and everything you do wrong, and it can be pretty expensive as well at times (1k to 6k minimum)
So the campus life in an overall description is average, at times it can be really fun where as at times it can be very depressing. ( not clinical depression) It really gives the vibes of a 9 to 5 job and that really makes it difficult to co-op even though the management tries alot to help the students.
VIT Vellore is a very spacious college with several educational blocks, and accommodation facilities. Hostels are maintained with WiFi and mess. All the classrooms are provided with smart boards for the ease of teaching along with white board. Computer labs are open with the internet facilities for assisting the students and faculties for better learning and teaching. Library is open to all to research and gain better knowledge. Separate physical fitness facilities are made within the campus.
The quality of teaching can be rated as 3.5/5 as it varies from different faculties. Curriculum is updated according to recent developments and makes us well prepared for the job. Scope of improvement is very much prevalent.
As known, there has been around cent percent placement, but it may not be in the core branches as seen.Students those prefer to study further do not sit for placements. For a CS students, they have the maximum opportunity to get placed .
College has a very good infrastructure. They provides all the necessary facilities and equipment. Also, classrooms and libraries are well maintained. There is book shop, Canteen in the campus. Wi-Fi speed is also very fast.
I had completed my Computer science engineering from there. Quality of teaching is very good. Everyone loves the ways of faculty teaching. Also curriculum is well updated and it includes all the recent developments in the field.
Many good companies visited your campus like Google, Cognizant, Wipro. Many students get placed in good companies. Placement process is easy and smooth. College is very much supportive and they also provide intensive placement training.
The cost fee is somewhat higher. But the faculties are good in teaching. Many of them completed their Ph.D.
I have enjoyed the campus life. Many events are organised by the institutes.
Overall I enjoyed my life in campus.
Our campus infrastructure is excellent,Separate hostels for boys & girls,Hostels are very clean, hygienic food & well maintained,Gym facility also available in hostel.Free wi-fi,Systems labs with 500+ systems & internet connection.Digital class rooms.Sports stadiums also available.
I choose Computer Science engineering in B.tech, because ii love programming, coding & more interest on software engineering field.Curriculum is updated it included advanced programming languages like .net,oracle e.t.c.Teaching & staff was excellent.
Placements was extra ordinary,Placement cell provides training from second year onward to make placement process easy & pleasant to students.Every year top leading companies like TCS,Infosys,CTS e.t.c.,came to our campus for recruitment As my seniors said 85% of students in their batch were placed in campus drives.
Nearly 2,00,000/- every year.of course it is worthy
Less restrictions,more enjoyment in hostels.
Has a good infrastructure, Ecofriendly, lots of space, classes are Maintained properly, washrooms are cleaned regularly, laboratories are much facilitated, projectors are available in each and every classrooms.
Once you enter vit it's not you need not think studies as a stress, it's so easy to learn once you follow your particular Proffesor's notes. If you are regular to your classes it's so easy to score. They provide us lot of online courses too.
I am not sure about placements since I am in first year, but in point of seniors placements are so good and there are lot of opportunities. They give us the best companies, if not in our core department, there are lots and lots of Opportunities in other departments.
It's not too high or too low, your fees completely depends upon the vitee rank. Once you score good ranks, you need not worry about the cost, cause it's not so high, it's feasible.
Teachers do support us a lot. You have got lot of freedom inside the campus and it's also so secure. As of now the rules are not quite strict .
Don't worry if your parents are roasting you for not entering IIT/NIT, VIT is also one of the best platform for education.
They will give necessary facilities like faculty is available In their respective cabins to clarify your doubts. And college is full of green and clean free. They will provide free wifi in libraries and hostels.
A student can select their own course and faculty. And academics are fully flexible . and curriculum is updated regularly and they will offer courses on english so that you can take them and increase their vocabulary.
Nearly 60% students are placed in vit chennai. Somany companies now a days are focusing in chennai campus as well. In cse branch nearly 4,00,000 is the average salary and in ece 3,00,000 is the average salary.
A student in VIT can get their worth for paying money.
The college life is average but the positive thin is you can learn all languages in india.
The libraries have a lot of books in a wide range of topics that are covered in the college, the campus is always maintained really well. There is wifi for day scholars, I dont know much about the hostellers
I am studying cs and the syllabus is updated. The year that I joined, they included specialisations in AI and cybersecurity. The teachers are pretty good too, at least they will tell you which books to refer and will make you work.
As far as I have heard, the placement opportunities are good but the students who put in their blood, sweat and tears get inside the companies they want. The average salary is 3 lpa although I am not sire about that. We have soft skills classes for prepping us for the placements, the highest salary package is 40 lpa from microsoft but only a single student got it.
The fees are a bit high but I can say that I am getting my money's worth but I dont think I can say the same for other students
If you know who you should approach for getting something, then the campus life is amazing. There are plenty of clubs and activities for each and every student to participate in.
The College is a big one with good infrastructure, facilities and equipment. The class rooms have good ventilation, laboratories are spacious and library is quite with many useful reference books. The living places are clean and the food is hygienic
I am studying electronics and communication...because am interested in knowing about gadgets and their working. The quality of teaching is good . Most of the professors are PhD holders. Regular notes and assignments are given. The curriculum is regularly updated and it does include all the recent developments in the field.
There is 100% placements for the students. The highest salary package offered was 41.6 LAP and the average salary package was 7.25LPA. Totally 7027 offers were given to the students. Mostly cs department gets high packages . The placement process was satisfactory for me.
3 lakh per year . I fell it is a bit high since it doesn't include reference books, bus fee, vibrance entry fee etc... since these pill up as addicted expenses
Students are given full liberty...they are given many opportunities to exhibit their talents .students can engage in various club activities, workshops, etc..
