HI-Tech College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar (HCE) rightly holds its pride among the premier engineering institutions that offer a plethora of engineering courses. The college thus follows a competitive, streamlined admission process conforming to the rules laid down by the government. HCE mainly admits students by the following two entrances: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE).

The JEE Main ranking shall be a must for admission for those aspirants who are inclined towards pursuing a bachelor's degree in technology in the particular academic year. The OJEE marks are also accepted for admissions into HCE. Entry requirements and qualifications are under the purview of the government, and these are the criteria for the aspirants to enter.

HCE literally carries out direct B. Tech programs via OJEE lateral entry to third-semester (second-year) entry. This entry is kept specially for the students having diplomas or B.Sc graduates willing to pursue Bachelor's degree programs in engineering.

The admission cycle generally runs parallel to the JEE Main and OJEE schedules. Though there can be changes in the dates indicated every year, the procedure starts soon after the results of the respective entrance examinations are declared. For recent notifications with regards to application deadlines and admission dates, candidates are advised to visit the official HCE website and the respective exam portals.

Application Process

1. Qualify for either JEE Main or OJEE: Candidates have to appear for either JEE Main or OJEE as applicable to the course they want to join and qualify.

2. Eligibility: Check to see whether you satisfy all the minimum eligibility criteria required by the college and the government for the program you want to join.

3. Submission of Application: Fill the online application form either on HCE official website or on the counselling authority website- either JEE Main or OJEE.

4. Submission of Documents: Usually, these include the following:

• 10th and 12th Mark Sheets and Certificate

• Rank Card of JEE Main or OJEE

• Domicile Certificate (if applicable)

• Category Certificate (if applicable)

• Recent Passport Size Photographs

5. Counselling Process: Candidates are required to attend any one counseling process related to the entrance as notified by the authorities (for JEE Main or OJEE).

6. If seat allotment is done, reporting to the HI-Tech College of Engineering for document verification and admission confirmation.

7. Fee Payment: Fees for admission has to be paid, which will lock the seat allotted to the college.

8. All the above procedural steps are common for lateral entry admissions but through the OJEE counseling channel.

B.Tech: HI-Tech College of Engineering has five B.Tech programs:

All of them have limited intake as per JEE Main ranks.

• Civil Engineering: 30

• Computer Science and Engineering: 30

• Other courses may differ by intake.

Lateral Entry: HCE provides for lateral entry directly into 3rd semester B. Tech courses through OJEE. This option is for those who possess diplomas or B.Sc degrees and meet the eligibility requirements of the state government and the institute.
