    The department offers a dual degree program that allows students to complete two undergraduate degrees in four years. Students begin by enrolling in and successfully completing the first two years of the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program in the Mechatronics stream at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT). Following this, they transfer to Deakin University to complete the remaining two years of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program. Upon successful completion of the program, students graduate with two globally recognized degrees from two leading universities, MIT and Deakin University, enhancing their academic credentials and career prospects.

    Mechatronics Engineering pathway

    Years 1 + 2 - MIT Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronics Engineering

    Years 3 + 4 - Deakin Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Mechatronics Engineering major

    How it works: 

    • Enrol in and successfully complete the first 2 years of an eligible BTech program at MIT 
    • Transfer to Deakin and complete years 3 and 4 of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) 
    • Graduate with two globally recognised degrees from leading universities

    Eligibility Criteria

    Based on MET Rank • English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science or any technical vocational subject* as optional subject (preferably Mathematics and Physics at HL level) • IB Diploma or IB Certificate with a minimum average of 4 points for Physics, Mathematics, and any optional subject* with an overall minimum of 24 points • Minimum points required in a subject are 3 or above • Minimum 3 subjects in HL and 3 subjects in SL • Minimum TWO Science subjects in HL * Technical vocational subject must be related to Chemical / Civil / Computer / Electrical / Mechanical stream.

    Based on JEE Mains CRL Rank • English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science or any technical vocational subject* as optional subject (preferably Mathematics and Physics at HL level) • IB Diploma or IB Certificate with a minimum average of 6 points for Physics, Mathematics, and any optional subject* • Minimum points required in a subject are 3 or above • Minimum 3 subjects in HL and 3 subjects in SL

    • Minimum TWO Science subjects in HL * Technical vocational subject must be related to Chemical / Civil / Computer / Electrical / Mechanical streams The candidate MUST be having 90 Percentile or above in JEE Mains 2026
